There was a whole discussion about having shows just for petites. I hope they listen. Now days so much info is not given on TV. Many hosts are too interested in being cute, charming or borderline know it all that they forget to give all the info. They just assume that everyone has access to the website. That is why I NEVER order from just seeing an item on TV. I always look it up for sizing, other info & reviews if there are any. That has saved at LOT of wasted money in returns.

Many/perhaps most people don't realize that petite refers not just to the length but the rise of the garment.

The rise is the distance between the waist and the crotch (for lack of a better word).

I need petite for the length (I'm now about 5'3" since I lost at least 1 inch).

However, I'm long waisted (so to speak) and a petite doesn't fit me right in the crotch.

I always liked Jeanne Bice's pants in short because she understood that (for most people) petite means short...not about the rise.

Go here: It better explains what I'm trying to explain about RISE:

https://www.apparelsearch.com/terms/r/rise.html

I've found if I look at the models I can kinda guess things. For example usually the sleeves are too long on me. How will I know? Well if the sleeves come down to the model's total wrist, it's too long for me. (This is something other's might want to notice because we are coming into Fall and Winter where most things will have long sleeves.

I try to look for clothes (tops, etc) where the garment looks too small on the model (not covering the wrist) because that means it will fit me in the sleeve length.

I can always cut off the regular size pants (which I always have to do) but it drives me crazy to constantly cut and re-hem the sleeves (which I've also done). It's not always possible if one wants to keep the look of the garment to cut off the sleeves and adjust them. But I've actually done this by pretty much 're-building' the garment. I've taken out the sleeves and lining and re-sewed the garment. We're talking about a hand-full of times though...way, way too much trouble and not worth it.

I used to make all of my own clothes and many of those for my daughters (think Polly Flinders style for them).

I made my clothes when I worked and then when I quit after having children, I made their clothes. It's fun to do because it's one of a kind.

Anyway, as usual I've drifted off subject.

My point is that it's not so simple to say 'petite' because most people think petite means just the length when it doesn't.

I'd like to see more SHORT (like Cracker Factory makes).

But then I'd like to be a zillionaire and that's not going to happen either.

Posting sizing on clothing shows has started to happen a tiny bit. Not sure why it ever went away. It really needs to be posted just like availability guide. Who cares how many are available if you don't know the garment measurements. I won't order until I know the garment measurements.

if don't fit in the rise they stick up and out and look awful. I quit buying from one company who have medium 12-14. Most company have them at 10-12.
