Stop allowing useless reviews

I just read a review for Skinnytees stating that the product "runs small" and that the purchaser should "size up."

Whoever allowed the review to be posted clearly knows nothing about the product. It comes in ONE SIZE.

Is this QVC's problem - that they hire review approval personnel who don't have any information about the product?

What about those reviews which state, ‘this product is awful’, or the ones from people who have not purchased the item?

Each person's experience with a product is different, there are some reviewers who just are not good with words or writing and presenting a review; and some people just like to rant off into negative land. Then there are people who I suppose did not purchase the item....we cannot count on QVC to "monitor" for legitimate reviews; I for one would never review something I had not purchased.

I find the reviews very helpful.......and i am glad they aren't monitored....yes a few here and there maybe not be applicable.......but i am sure the posters reading the reviews can decipher which reviews are helpful to them...

I spelled out an example of a reviewer saying skinnytees "run small" and the purchaser should "order up."

That comment makes no sense since the productt only comes in one size. The person who allowed the review didn't seem to know that.

So how is that review helpful to anyone?

@GingerPeach I did read your posting, re: reviewer of skinnytees stating to size up when there is only one size. Hence the reason why I said QVC does not always monitor reviews and there are some reviews that are scattered, shallow, wrong and just not worth reading due to poor writing skills. I have had a review I submitted not posted because I was too harsh in the review of the product.

Skinny T’s Come in two sizes, regular and Plus. I am a 12 and use both, according to if I feel thin that day or not. Q used to carry both sizes but you can still find them at other stores.

@StephfromIdaho. You can buy Skinny Tees in plus sizes at their own website.

Hi, @GingerPeach! I hope you're doing well.🌻 QVC doesn't manage their review system "in-house" -- a major digital marketing company called "Bazaarvoice" has managed their reviews for years, and does so for countless other businesses and products. I don't know if there's any way to get complaints or concerns passed on to them, other than by way of the QVC Social Team.

I agree, the way the system is "managed" leaves much to be desired, and it's been that way for a long time. It's been permitted to remain this way to the point that I have to think QVC (and Qurate) doesn't really care. It's a shame the reviews can't be more useful to prospective shoppers.

People shouldn't be able to write reviews if they haven't purchased the item. Actually they should have more sense than to even write a review but since they don't QVC needs to monitor them.

People should never rely on reviews. Lots of vendors hire people to submit reviews on their products. Yes, some people write reviews without having seen or used the item.

There is no way a retailer can entirely prevent this. Many already ask if the reviewer has purchased the item. People can lie or tell the truth. You can't control it.

There is nothing you can do about it. Just read reviews with a grain of salt. It is what it is.

I don't expect QVC to monitor every single review posted for accuracy. That seems like a very unrealistic request to make.

Thank you, @StephfromIdaho , but I am already aware of that and have been for a long time. The point is that the particular item I referenced did not come in the plus size. It was only offered in one size. Thus, my post.

Just because it's not available in another size doesn't mean it's not a helpful review. The size it is available in runs small. If someone needs more room or doesn't want something so clingy, they will know to look for something else.

Yes, I'm aware of that system but that should not let those in charge of allowing reviews to be posted off the hook.

No matter who is in charge of allowing reviews should be aware of what they are allowing and at the very least, be familiar with the product.

(Here's another example: I remember reviews being posted for a handheld steam cleaner for which complaints were made about the moisture in the product. I had ordered one myself and it very clearly said the moisture was from testing, not from any fault or from being a return or from otherwise used. Awareness and knowledge is important.)

I realize very well that the review systems of not only QVC, but those of other retailers, are all fraught with issues.

Still, that doesn't mean they can't make efforts to improve and it doesn't mean they shouldn't remove reviews that make no sense.

Other than being frustrated, I am doing well. Thank you for asking. Harrumph! Clearly I would like more perfection than the world seems to be able to provide.

If you've ever written and submitted a review, you know that before a review is allowed to be posted, it supposedly goes to a reviewer. It is never posted immediately, @Bri369

One would think that as part of the approval process, the review would be read for accuracy.

Of course I've written reviews. A reviewer doesn't check for accuracy. They check to see if the review has met their guidelines.

I stand by my statement that it's a valid review.

The reviews I have a problem with are written by people that do not even own the product. QVC has stated that opinions are allowed to be left as reviews.
