PRE-RECORD PRESENTATIONS

More items could be presented each hour if the items were pre-recorded. Eliminate the host or the vendor rep and have one person make a five minute demonstration. That same presentation could be aired several times a week allowing for more viewers to see. If a demo would be limited to five minutes which is more than enough for many items then twelve per hour would be possible...less boring! QVC has thousands of items we never even see on air! Customers seem to be sick and tired of seeing a few items presented each hour. I see no need for a host to keep sounding off on the number sold during a presentation and I see no need for so much useless non-informative chit chat. You are on air 24/7 and more items need to be shown. I realize some things need more than five minutes and at times a live show is needed...but not always. Jewelry is one category that could be shown with pre-recorded video. Kitchen gadgets is another. It might be a more productive format.

Interesting idea but I think a lot of viewers (not me!!) watch QVC for entertainment and watching their "friends" (the hosts). I like your idea for those who are only interested in the products.

I don't like pre-recorded formats at all. They have had a few through the years and the TV gets changed immediately. I don't even check it again.

@GabidogMight work for some, but if it were that boring (like I find most shopping channels), I'd never watch. I'd probably also stop any buying because I rarely make decisions in the first 5 minutes of a presentation.

Maybe on a day I was too sick to go out, I'd tune in to see a repeat of a 5-minute presentation that created a little interest for me, but that would also give me lots of time to walk away and think about whether I really want or need the product. I'd say that for me at least 75% of the time, there'd never be a sale. That style would just add another protective layer against impulse buying!

My suggestion was not intended to eliminate shows that only have one or four items per hour with a live host but to encourage viewership by allowing more items to be on air. It could be a combo of live and recorded during the weekly schedule. I read hundreds of posts complaining about how boring QVC is with so few items so this could offer some relief to those of us who are tired of the same same.. One of my first experiences with home shopping was watching Colleen Lopez and Dan Dennis do a jewelry clearance. It was fast it was funny and yes I bought. I do not have the patience to watch one ring for fifteen minutes while QVC waits for it to be sold out. Why do so many now shop online? It is easy and fast. Airtime most of the time also needs to be fast and easy.

I nice idea, but I think sales would drop like crazy. There are still so many people who will only make a purchase when their favorite host presents it live. They feel they want him or her to get the credit for the sales, and they wait to watch them like they're visiting friends. I've seen that mentioned several times here on this forum alone.

You have to be kidding. It's usually the host who actually sells the item, and people do tend to gravitate toward particular hosts. I agree they often spend too much time on one item while they're trying to sell it out (all the shopping channels do this), but I'm not going to watch a bunch of infomercials either. My solution is, and has been, to DVR the shows; then watch at my leasure and skip over the parts that don't interest me.

You still have a favorite host. You can still watch or not. But if you enjoy seeing a can opener in six colors on air for fifteen minutes while colors selling out is announced every sixty seconds then let us just keep the same old boring shows that are now on air. I know I no longer watch QVC because it is just so time consuming and annoying. I normally shop online because I can see the daily new items in seconds. I can review what has been on air for the past twelve hours in minutes. I do not dislike hosts but they are also not a pal...they are salespeople. And many times those people have misled and I ended up returning items. Buying anything on air or online is riskier than seeing something in person. I just want to see more of the online items that never see any presentation or even have a short video...not a lot to ask.

I watch less QVC around the holidays. This year much less. Too much of the same things. Especially the TSV.

Hmmm . . . . perhaps a compromise? Live programming, but limiting presentations to no more than seven minutes per item except for TSV’s, which could be limited to ten minutes, other than maybe three or four half hour long, in-depth presentations (including the midnight est kickoff) each day?

I was going to post about the Your Home with Jill pre-recorded shows at some faux house the rented.

The idea was that she would be on social media with everyone while it aired.

They never did it again.
