Excessive host bashing from the forums

It's disturbing to see the constant host bashing. It's

like cyber bullying. I think it's negative and hurtful. You are not in charge of hiring or managing these hosts and I think it is inappropriate to suggest any course of action simply because you may not like a voice or clothing or mannerism. I don't know why I'm even posting this but it seems like the prevailing sentiment lately for people to jump all over everyone via Facebook or social media- I don't like it. Sad.

I completely agree. I'm sure I'm about to be bashed because I don't post much and therefore am not allowed to have an opinion. When the hosts start to play on my nerves I realize it's probably time to turn the channel. This instantly solves the problem. Let the bashing begin!

I agree with you. I don't understand the need to post anything so negative or nasty but I guess when anonimity comes into play, it is ok. No it is not. The saying about the apple falling far from the tree comes to my mind. I have an idea that the children of these adults do exactly the same to their peers. Of course they won't admit it. If your not happy with the hosts or anyone else, for that matter, move on, click off the show, and go take a nice walk outdoors. Your post will be deleted anyway.

I don't know why you're posting this either. Mods seem to erase unkind postings quickly although many of us are in agreement - and are thinking the same. Nobody can force us to always like what we see on the Q.

@Shopchickie3You’re right. It’s been going on for years and will never really stop. The good thing is the Mods delete the unkind posts now, it used to be a free for all on the Forums.

The posters say they are giving their honest options and constructive criticism only to be helpful to the hosts and QVC.

Woman bashing woman is very sad and hateful.

That also sends a stronger message than posting on the boards. The only truly effective way to "get rid" of a host is low sales volume.

If a host turns off enough people that his/her sales figures don't meet corporate criteria that host will be replaced.

The converse is also true. Even if a host is the target of repeated complaints on the boards as long as his/her sales volumes are strong they will stay.

If I don't care for a host or vendor, there is always online shopping. I find the reviews more helpful than comments from vendors who obviously like their products or hosts that are paid to sell a product.

Through the years, I have found that a host that I'm not fond of usually is gone after a while. So I'm sure that QVC pays attention to how much is sold during a show. QVC cares about their ratings since that is where they make money.

I find the remote control very easy to use. That is much kinder that all of the negative comments that are posted. Just because you have an opinion, doesn't mean that you have to share it. There are much more constructive ways to make a point. The moderators remove comments that are mean. So what is really accomplished with personal, mean, rude comments?

Unfortunately many of the posts are not removed which I do not understand. There are entire threads that should be deleted which may help stop some of the hurtful comments. If the thread is deleted by customer service due to cyber bullying (bashing) then those who have nothing better to do won't have a forum to post their "hate mail." I have always belived those who do not think highly of themselves feel the need to bring others down to make themselves look better. Seems to be a lot of QVC watchers who don't know how to use the remote to "mute" or turn the channel.

Although I do not usually watch QVC in any of its reincarnations, I do check out this forum. ( I may see 10 minutes / month )

From many of the postings, there are opportunities for the managers of the " offending " hosts to help them improve their delivery, their approach, their interaction with vendors, etc. If I were a host, I would want someone to care enough about my development to share their expertise so I could grow.

During my corporate career, the managers that I most remember with heartfelt thanks were the few who shared their concern and help. I returned the favor many times over with those who worked for me as well as for colleagues in the seminar / career development segment of my work life.

Negative feedback when coupled with caring and coaching to improve / develop works wonders. Hopefully someone at QVC cares not only about profits, but also the people who could make the company more profitable by listening to the Listeners / Consumers.

It's cyber bullying for sure. If you don't care for a host why rush to the forums to bash them. Yes, it is going to get deleted by the mods but why do it in the first place? I think it is a sad commentary on the human condition. It's easy to hide behind a keyboard and rip somebody to shreds.

Not only happens to hosts to users here on the forum. This morning had my own experience individual wouldn't stop. To the point she or he sounded unstable. Makes you wonder anger people walk around with. Recall watching news story on road rage years ago. Two women respected in the community married with children. Rage escalated to one chasing the other woman with her car... Both women lost everything one her life.

True that's extreme case but....lesson can be learned walk away from mean spirited people. Engaging with such individuals doesn't help might cause more retribution. Though in my case the person was relentless.

I think the Q should pay attention to the constructive criticisms of the hosts. Most of them are spot on.

These are TV people. You don't do your job to the satisfaction of the viewers, you're out. If you can't handle that practice, you have chosen the wrong profession.

@faeriemoon I am not certain what forum the OP is referencing, however, it is my experience that most host bashing is quickly shut down. Perhaps the OP is simply unaware of the vitriol that existed on the previous forums against certain hosts, now, gone. (And, everyone knows to whom I speak) But, with a minimal number of posts, perhaps the OP simply does not have that historical reference. Then again, maybe they do and it is pot stirring. Who knows. However, I do not think it exists in the framework that was described. In addition, the hosts are public figures and are under public scrutiny. Public figures are almost always unsuccessful in their lawsuits citing slander and libel, because they are public figures.

Many of the chronic bashers have written they believe they're 'helping' QVC with their repetitious fault finding.
Oddly enough, these helpers resent any constructive criticism aimed at themselves from fellow posters, and mocking label anyone who disagrees with them as "Q lovers".

Stating you have trouble understanding a hosts because they speak too rapidly is a constructive criticism.

However, the OP wrote about the bashing.

ITA, @fthunt I rarely see much in the way of snarky remarks because the mods ****** them in the bud. All people in the public eye put themselves in the position of receiving criticism; it goes with the territory. I do see and often agree with comments about certain hosts being hard to understand because they talk so fast and/or mumble. I consider this sort of criticism justified.

It seems post like this pop up every couple of months from relatively "new" posters. Sorry but I think many of them are nothing more than threads to get things stirred up again.

The majority of the time, they turn into posters justifying comments about the hosts and the threads get ugly.

There is also the fact that what some consider bashing, others consider part of being a public figure. I do think there is a huge difference between bashing a host and constructive criticism of a host. I also think the word bashing is thrown around far too often on these boards.

There are posters on this board who think nothing of namecalling, slamming and going after fellow posters but they are the first ones who whine when anything is said about a host or vendor that isn't to their liking.

I feel sorry for the mods here and the office of the President. I've said it before and I'll say it again. When it gets to the point where I'm calling anyone at QVC, especially the President's office, over posts on this board, it's time for me to step away, way far away, from these forums.

I think it's fine to suggest hosts talk slower, speak clearer, stop the hard sells, let the vendor present information, etc. It pertains to their job. When the criticism gets personal that's when it should be nipped in the bud. I personally either mute the host or don't watch them at all. Not watching I think is more hurtful to the Q than constant complaining - if the host is a top seller, they're not going anywhere unless they choose to leave.

If people ignored it and there were no responses it would not exist.

The issue is that some think a critique needs to always be positive. Anything else is labeled host bashing.

No one but the moderators have a real say on what goes and what stays. I trust their judgment ...after all they are employed by QVC and do a great job...
