topic Why Does QVC Still Allow Bogus Reviews? in Suggestion Box

I know I'm wasting my breath, since this has gone on for so many years with nothing done about it, but why does QVC still allow people who haven't even purchased an item to leave a review - good, bad or otherwise?

The Skecher TSV for today (3/13) has a one-star review by someone who clearly says she wouldn't purchase them because she hates the way they look! This brings down the overall rating, makes the review system worthless and makes QVC look ridiculous.

Clearly, no one actually looks at these reviews before they're posted (other than automated scanning for unacceptable words). And even when a review is reported as "inappropriate" nothing is done about it.

Either make the review system valid and meaningful or scrap it entirely. There's no value at all, when a host says on air "This has received all 5-star reviews" or "This is a 'Customer top-rated' item", if we know people can reviews items they've never even owned. Other online companies manage to vet the reviews before they're allowed to be posted, what is the matter with QVC that they still cannot address this issue?

To me, a bogus review is someone claiming to own the item and reviewing it, and they don't actually own it.

But, I totally agree with your point.

If you haven't purchased the item, you shouldn't be allowed to review it, obviously!

On all sites, I find some reviews helpful, when the reviewer has taken the time to point out specifics of why they do/dont like the item, what problems they had, or how it really did or did not perform as presented.

Reviews that gush or rant about an item, "it's the best, or what a piece of junk", aren't very helpful, since one reviewers opinion without anything more, is just an opinion.

I totally didn't see your comment and just started the same thread. It is driving me crazy. There are 25 reviews from people on the bare minerals foundation and not one person has tried it yet because it hasnt been released! I completely agree with you. QVC needs to change this ASAP!

Why are you posting your complaint here? Your fellow shoppers can't do anything about it; you're preaching to the choir. Nobody else will see it. You might direct your complaint to the corporate offices.
