Why Not Free Shipping For ALL Handbags??

I noticed last night during the Q's debut of Radley of London handbags that all the bags were sell-outs within 40 minutes. I surmise that the FREE shipping on all of them was largely the reason.

QVC, please learn from this. I believe that the shipping charges of close to $13 dollars on some handbags, combined with the return shipping of $7, is non-competitive, and has deterred huge numbers of shoppers (myself included). The prospect of losing $20 in order to try out a handbag is expecting too much from the customer, IMO.

@handygal2 I wholeheartedly agree. I rarely buy a handbag on QVC anymore because of this. And you know I buy a lot of handbags.

Thanks to QVC, I came to be a real Dooney fan. However, I stopped buying my bags from QVC. Now I get them at steep discounts online from ilovedooney...free shipping all the time.

What would be the upside of QVC paying for shipping of ALL handbags out of their own pocket? Sure, we'd like it. If QVC selling handbags and customers are paying the shipping charges, why they take the financial hit? For nothing? They did it for this NEW brand because it's new, it's an unknown and they wanted to draw customers in. I do think $13 is high but it's comparable to the department stores when you order online. I think if I'm paying $300 for Dooney that I love, $13 to ship isn't going to be deal breaker.

I think probably most of the time if it states free shipping I assume the shipping is already included in the price you are paying. Someone is paying for shipping & it's not the seller.

I think the bags flew out the door because they were nice size bags not suitcase size as most they sell are. They had 2 smaller ones I really liked but color sold out fast. The only bags they make I like are considered crossbody bags which I totally hate. I'm not putting a strap across my body. How uncomfortable is that. I just can't stand anything up around my neck. I want to carry it on my shoulder.

$13. may not be a deal breaker for you, however, if you do not like the bag it is costing you the $13.00 plus the return shipping label fee so now you are out $20.00. To me that is excessive.

I wonder if it is a deal they had with Radley that shipping fees would be included in their brand, just like Vionic. The way I see it, the shipping is part of the price but we feel better not seeing it listed as an added on fee.

I thought that the reason they were selling out so fast was because they didn't bring in a lot because it was the first preview of this brand. Free shipping would be great no doubt about it.

QVC handbag prices are far too high. Add shipping to that, and it's a deal breaker for me. Haven't bought one from QVC in years.

If you're paying $300 for a Dooney that you love... odds are, it's going to ship free from just about everywhere but here...

Why should they do it? Because financial reports indicate handbags sales are down. If they want to compete then, well, they need to compete across the board, including shipping...

Probably also true. While I don't think free shipping was the 'cause' of the sell outs, it surely didn't hurt... I too think they had limited quantities and also think that QVC customers are so starved for new and different brands and products that those too were big factors in making this initial offering a success.

QVC is the only place I know that charges shipping on Dooney handbags. That's why I order from Dooney, or Macy's. The bags sell for the exact same price at all of them, except Dooney and Macy's will have occasional sales. The shipping is just QVC's way to rob you a bit.
