COMMUNICATION NEEDED FOR WHY A POST WAS TAKEN DOWN

I just put up a short post on Chat re: Celeb Death naming one as a loss that was hardest on me. I said he lived where I do, I'd met him, my city loved him and named a monument after him.

I would like to know why it was taken down as inappropriate, I am truly shocked.

I hope someone reviews what I'd said and tells me what was wrong with it. It's unfair never to know, especially when it seems random and without meaning.

This kind of thing is why I don't come to these boards much anymore.

I personally doubt anything you posted was inappropriate. Yes, QVC can do what it wants with it's board, but I just don't bother with it so muc h anymore.

I am sorry; yours was not to be deleted as there was certainly nothing inappropriate about your post. Sometimes there is a glitch where additional posts are deleted in error. Again I apologize and thank you for letting me know....I am tying to see if I can repost it.

I have had post's removed too for seemingly no reason. Mine are gone when others that have said the same thing remain. Guess it depends on who is on duty. Don't let it bother you.

I replied to you almost immediately when you sent me the abuse notice....I truly apologize as yours was not the post that was meant to be deleted. There was nothing offensive or inappropriate about your post. There is a glitch in our system that sometimes relates one post to another for an unseen reason. I did try to return the post but I have not been successful. Again I am truly sorry as you are a valued member of our community forum family and it was not intentional.

I've wondered, @Beth-QVC, why you almost always close threads about Shawn Killinger. Other host posts remain that are neither worse nor better than hers. Of course, there's no reason given for closing, just this thread is closed.

Once a thread about one of our hosts, and this is especially true regarding Shawn, reaches a certain size, it almost always goes off topic and will contain deleted posts for a number of reasons. I will lock the thread as it contains posters opinions and posts that are constructive but prevents any further host bashing.

@Beth-QVC is a real sweatheart as a mod. She has to do her job and she does it well, but is compassionate about it. IMO Beth follows the Golden Rule and treats others how I think she would like to be treated. In my opinion, she puts herself in our place and understands. This is also why I think she goes above and beyond the call of duty, so to speak, trying to help out when something goes wrong with an order. That's been my experience when she's helped me with order snafus.

Thanks for that explanation, Beth. I had wondered why some posts I made were deleted when there was nothing wrong with them. I just thought somebody had it out for me. heh

I had one that was deleted, months ago, that said it was deleted because I put a link to another site in it. There was no such link at all. Others had explanations that totally didn't apply, either.

I'll be the first to admit when I'm wrong, or even circling the periphery of wrong, but several that were deleted weren't even in the galaxy of wrong.

I appreciate knowing that maybe they came under the 'glitch' problem.

@chickenbutt I am glad to know this too. Some of mine a while back were getting poofed no matter what I said. I thought there was a red flag up that everytime I posted anything it was to be poofed. I really thought Beth had it in for me. Glad to know it was technical.

I have a lot of respect for @Beth-QVC. I have always felt her decisions are based on genuine thought about a post or situation and that she does her very best to care and to be fair. I respect her decisions.

Some moderators seem to insta-delete just because something is reported to them, without actually taking time to see what's going on. Beth doesn't do this, and it's appreciated. Thought goes into her decisions.

And besides the instance that started this thread, I haven't seen any other moderator un-poof, or try to un-poof, an accidentally deleted post. Maybe they have, but I haven't seen it. But I've seen Beth do it before.

She's also been very helpful to me with purchasing issues 💐

I have a purely speculative theory about why innocent posts sometimes get deleted along with a violating post and it has to do with the reply button.

I think if the reply button is clicked on an offending post or a post that has quoted an offending post (and is also set for deletion because of the quote) the innocent post also gets linked and is automatically removed by the system.

I agree with you, Marp, that a post will be deleted if it includes a quote of a post that is considered offensive. That's pretty standard and has always happened here.

None of mine that were deleted had quoted posts in them, though.
