Food Trial Boxes

A new poster posted in the Kitchen forum that they'd like to see a food trial box. Several people suggested she post her suggestion in the Suggestion Box forum. I see she hasn't done so and thought I would do it. I think she has a great idea and was afraid it wouldn't be seen in the Kitchen forum. (Normally I wouldn't repost someone else's idea. This was a brand new poster, and I was afraid she either wouldn't come back or wouldn't repost it.)

I would love to try the cinnamon rolls, but don't want to have to buy so many the first time I try them. There are many other foods that tempt me, too, mostly desserts. I hope QVC will consider doing this.

Do you mean trial sizes of a product, i.e. 4 instead of 2 dozen? It's a nice idea but it would mean designing special sized packaging, and I doubt the (sometimes smallish) individual companies would want the bother or expense - and customers would probably not be happy with the price. It wouldn't cost much less to package, handle and ship 4 than 12, so people would consider the sample size overpriced.

They did it with mascara and lip products and as a result I found several I now buy and I'm sure I'm not the only one. It seems like it would be a benefit to the vendors to do this as it would get their product out there to try and ultimately bring more orders their way. Several vendors partnering to ship samples of their food together would not cost more.

As I asked in the previous thread, since the vendors typically ship food from their own location, and since they are not all located in any one geographic area, how would this be possible?

It could be done if the vendors worked together and would be well worth it for them. I would like to try many food items but don't because I don't want to end up stuck with something I really do not care for! There are sites where you can get baskets of food products from different companies located all over so it is possible!

Exactly! While a lovely idea from an emotional POV, it would be far less than practical because the cost would be a lot higher.

This is what I mentioned in the other thread, except that Moonchilde stated it much more eloquently and with more pertinent information.

That is a great idea but probably too hard to implement as others have already stated. Schwan's does sample packs of some of their products and I always get at least one because with just two people in the household, I can make at least four meals trying a variety of items.

I would really, really love to see QVC offer trial samplers of their foods. I have a single-person household (unless you count my 3 dogs), and I would love to be able to taste items like the Bobby Chez crabcakes, the cinnamon rolls, etc. With so many of the food items, you either have to buy a large quantity (way too much for one person, takes up too much freezer room) and/or if you want to try a high-priced food, you have to risk paying big bucks for something you may not like and end up giving away or tossing out.

If the foods are as delicious as the presenters and hosts would have us believe, I would think that sample boxes would be a great way for QVC to generate more food orders.

Oh that is so true! I would definitely try a smaller lower priced box to determine if I truly like an item and then would def later purchase if so.
