Inappropriate !

This Monday evening, Dennis Basso was objectified on air. He wisely refused to "Come show us your butt" on air. How is this behavior acceptable? Had a male host commented repeatedly, stopping the forward progress of the entire program , " Denise Basso you have a cute butt" " come show us your butt" would there not have been an outcry of inappropriate, inexcusable, sexist behavior?

Since when is the vendor a "Cheeky Bugger" as Liam was called, on air, by the very same host?

Since when is "girly" a proper title for an established designer ? Examples of this condescending, belittling, inappropriate behavior abound. There has been no evidence of corrective action. Will the sensibilities of the viewer ever be considered in kind?

This sort of thing happens far too often, and although those here object, we are called "unkind" and nothing happens. This is offensive and creates a hostile work environment for the Q employees and models. By their inaction, they are inviting a sexual harassment lawsuit and it could be filed by any of the forementioned groups.

I think we have to assume that QVC, unlike most corporations, has no policy on sexual harassment and it's executives and supervisors do not watch the programing. If they did, they'd be scared to death.

Perhaps this sort of thing, like other unseemly acts by hosts, is done to solicit comment and get attention. It results in comment but what company wants to be considered in such a negative way? You allow your hosts to make QVC a joke and object of ridicule; aren't you proud?

I was kind of shocked at that comment made to Dennis Basso. Even if they are good friends and he designed her wedding dress, that was something she should have saved for off the air. Very tacky! You are so right that if a male host had made that comment to a female guest it would have been so inappropriate, sexist, crude, etc.

Highly inappropriate! Do some of these hosts not realize they are at work? Yes, I know some are friends with some of the vendors, fine, but - really - they are not sitting around their living room hanging out with friends where anything can and most of time will be said - to me, when that camera is on they should be professional. Are we not all supposed to be professional at work? - there is a time for kidding around and a time not to do so. But, then again I really can't believe some of the stuff that comes out of her mouth sometimes anyhow!!

I saw that, too, and would have to agree. While outside of work that kind of talk may be funny, it is against the law where I live in any work place. Where I work, management would be forced to dismiss the employee at once. While I don't think the host that said those crude, and rude things even knows what she said was highly offensive, or what falls out of her own mouth most of the time. Any place I know of has a zero tolerance for talk like that. Employee handbooks warn employees of the consequences of such unprofessional language, and behavior. That kind of language is defined as hostile in the workplace. If the situation had been reversed, and the gentleman had said the same thing to that host, no one would question that it was wrong. This was just one of many times I've seen that same host act like she has no clue how to behave in a professional manner. My belief is she thinks she's being cute. It's not, it's offensive. What's more, she is more than old enough to know better. At the absolute least, she owes that vendor an on air apology. I for one will make it a point to never order from any of her shows again.

I avoid QVC on Mon. evenings. But it did not take me more than a second to figure out what this was all about. Until sales drop nothing will be done. I buy a lot from QVC, but never from this person.

I have to agree on this one. I don't like all the petty complaints some make about hosts but this is a real legtimate complaint. A man could never say such things anymore but it has become far too common for women to act the very way men used to and women complained about. It happens all the time on talk shows like the TALK, VIEW and Kelly and Michael (Michael would never dare say some of the things Kelly says).

I never chime in about host behavior but I completely agree, this was highly innappropriate. I felt uncomfortable for Dennis but he did handle it well.

We can comment all we want but nothing will change until the individual/s that these comments are directed towards file a complaint.

Then again, I don't think QVC would KNOW what to do with them all since there are so many (based on the numerous times I've seen female hosts pull this disgusting crappola).

I agree with OP, but, to be fair, we don't know if and how this was dealt with off the air. Perhaps with a talking-to, perhaps with a formal warning. We don't know.

I never watch this host, but wanted to see the clip of the DB jacket (which I LOVE!). Anyway, I couldn't believe it at the end of the clip when she says: "you have a cute butt, Dennis"!!! Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!! Absolutely no filter.

Sadly, I don't see her behavior changing any time soon.
She has QVC in her pocket.

I just refuse to watch her, let alone buy anything she's selling..

The cute act wore off for me years ago.

I never watch this host either - gets worse and worse. There are a few hosts that are an instant "change channel" for me, but there doesn't seem to be anyone of authority trying to correct the behavior ( or clothing choices ) of some of the current hosts. Monday nights are a big disappointment now, as well as many other shows. These are my opinions, and I am not watching or buying as much as I have in past decades.

I think she is definitely doing well for QVC -otherwise "they" would have put a stop to her ways a long time ago. My feeling is that people might tune in to see what she will say and do next for the shock value if nothing else -which ultimately produces sales. The more negative comments are written about a host, the powers that be realize that the show is being watched!

I saw this and thought it was awful. The host is not a young girl and at her age I would think she would be more mature. The producer has to take some responsibility here too for not controlling the behavior. This particular host is really unwatchable now.

The point about the hostile workplace is right on.

Absolutely spot-on! I no longer watch Monday evenings because her approach is tough for me to stomach. I flat-out dislike her and don't miss not watching her antics.

Sadly, I think the language or repartee or whatever category we put it in is acceptable to millions and millions of people. They don't find it objectionable, but see it as entertining and "telling it like it is." What's on QVC sounds mild to my ears at this point. Somehow I doubt shopping channel language will change before the rest of the world does - it will be the other way around.

Anyone else remember the uproar over Nixon's secret tapes in the 70's? A colleague of mine used to say he didn't want to release them because they would contain "improper" language, not because they would actually incriminate him. She wasn't really that far from wrong - and now? That language pollutes the airways daily. Sad.

We can only hope they are disciplined, but I highly doubt it since the same behavior continues to happen! Seems like our opinions don't matter.
