Fashions on the weekend?

Spinning off from a thread on the Fashion forum, I thought I'd post the suggestion here. It seems weekend programming is filled with cooking shows, electronics, etc. and don't really cater to women who are actually still in the workforce and in the market for clothing they can wear to the office. It doesn't make sense to me to have all the fashion programming take place during the week, when all we ladies still in the workforce are at work. I can understand showing casual clothing lines such as D&C and Quacker Factory for ladies who are retired but what about the lines that carry officewear? Unless I have a sick day (or watch some shows that might be on in the evenings, while I'm busy catching up with other things) I don't get to see a lot of fashion shows.

Totally agree with you. Fortunately for me, I retired last year, but while I was in the workforce, I constantly had same complaints as you post. The only ongoing fashion shows on the weekend is AM Style, and they have even begun starting that an hour earlier than they used to; they should have moved it back an hour if they were interested in making it a 3 hour show. Weekend viewing continues to be terrible and boring. And I am getting reading to start a thread under Q talk and I am sick to death of cooking shows and outdoor and garden shows.

So agree, Texasmouse! I don't actually watch for hours on end, but if I see a fashion hour that I like I would try to catch it. Too many computers, cooking and Godforsaken garden shows on weekends.

I do work in an office with a very relaxed dress code, so I am able to wear D&C and Quacker if I choose.

Pretty sure more women watch (even on weekends) than men

I totally agree! I just retired, but I needed fashion shows on the weekends. Hope Q can make the adjustment

First, not everyone is interested in fashion.

Second, not everyone is off on weekends.

Third, and most importantly, QVC has a convenient website which allows wone to view all items on air (including videos of the presentations) along with thousands of other items. There is absolutely no reason that one needs to wait until something is shown on television.

I have found that often by the time the videos are posted my desired size and/or color has sold out. I do not do facebook so when a host posts an advanced "sneak peek" I do not get it. I do not have nor do I want to spend my time on facebook talking fashion, etc with QVC and other sales sites. I have signed up several times for the Insider but I have not received it since they stopped charging me for it. I do enjoy reading forum and the blogs. Information and discussion from fellow shoppers is enjoyed.

For years weekend programming has been geared towards male viewers. It's mostly sports, sports, and more sports (I know women like sports too so don't get mad at me ladies)! It's as if tv executives are living in the I Love Lucy days when the workforce was comprised mostly of men.

Third, I'm aware that I can look up an item on QVC's website and even watch the video of the on-air presentation. However, if I were actually interested in purchasing said item after watching it "live" (after the fact) there's a chance that my size/color could be sold out.

Having said that, it's not to "actively" shop that I watch the fashion shows as much as it's something that I find pleasant and relaxing, like listening to music is for some people. I enjoy the ideas, the banter, the dynamics of the show and I find it entertaning to watch. It's not the same when you look up a certain item and watch a short video of just THAT item. I don't know if anyone else can relate. I guess it's just "passive watching" that I enjoy the most?

They seem to want to use weekend time for products that interest men (electronics) or are major purchases that might require discussion by spouses (mattresses). I don't know why they have endlessly long, boring WEN shows on weekends. I can't stand them so I'm feel certain men aren't interested.

@Texasmouse I completely agree with you!!!! Weekends are the ideal time that I could watch QVC--and fashsion shows are my favorite--and where I spend the most money. It's very annoying to me that they focus on everything BUT fashions on the weekend. Yes, I shop online--but I like to watch the shows, too.

@KYToby you have no need to defend your position. You've expressed the sentiments of many of us! The turn the channel crew wearies us all with their pat, condescending, dismissive, TIRESOME attitude. But, they think themselves clever. It's like the middleschool clique of ridiculers. That's the only thing they're good at.

No. @Texasmouse, the reply was correctly addressed to the writer. There is such an apologetic tone to her reply. I hoped to encourage her to express herself despite the inevitable criticism any entry can attract. There is no animosity here, only regret that so many women have left the forum because of all the conflict. ( A whole group of more than a hundred women left en masse about a year ago )

I've never understood this, either. The last thing my husband would ever do would be to watch or purchase something from QVC, especially on a weekend. I would love to see more fashion on Saturday AND Sunday.

Yes, I completely agree, less electronics, cooking & gardening on weekends and more FASHION VARIETY CHOICES besides Logo, SG, etc., on Saturday and Sunday. I wish they would come up with a show called "Style Weekend," or something.

I don't look forward to weekends on the Q, nowing the TSV will often be electionics or someithing that men, as well as women, might be interested in purchasing. I look forward to Monday night programing.....Amy is great, anywhere and selling anything!
