You are all excellent as hosts, but you've forgotten that the fact that somene else does something doesn't mean it's right. So....though this may burst your bubble, I feel compelled to tell you that the term "fabrication" is either a made-up story or related to a manufacturing process, as in metal fabricating. IT DOES NOT MEAN THE MATERIAL WHICH COMPRISES A GARMENT. Garments are made of various types of fabric. Period. End of story. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE STOP USING THAT WORD INCORRECTLY.

Further, "impactful" and "majorly" are NOT words, and the use of "impact" as a verb, as in "impacting" and "impacted," is considered INCORRECT by the experts. The fact that ten milion Americans are using it as such doesn't mean it's right; it just means ten million Americans are wrong and too lazy to use a dictionary, including all our "best" journalists and reporters.

Lastly, thankfully, I'm hearing a little less of the ridiculous "button-down shirt," as if we need to distinguish a normal shirt from those that button down the back. A "button-down" is a shirt with a collar that buttons down in three places.

Oh, and "price point." Seriously? I guess younger generations think they sound more sophisticated or cosmopolitan, but, actually, you sound silly, because now your listener has to ask whether you mean market price, selling price or price range. See what I mean? It's a very inefficient means of communicating.

Time for Americans to stop being lemmings and engage in some independent thought.

I so agree, but I fear it's a lost cause. Those of us who appreciate the English language and are bothered by all the deviations haven't a chance!

I'm reminded of something I heard: We are like King Canute who tried to hold back the sea with a bucket.

Keep the faith!

These types of admonishments seem to go over their little heads. As long as they sound smart in their own mind, they are OK sounding the opposite. They not only use the wrong words, they often have pronounciation challenges.

Well, I have to say that I am a former English teacher, and I am not as picky as some of you are about the terminology the hosts use. But there are two common mispronunciations which do need to be corrected.

Susan Graver and several hosts constantly pronounce 'shirring' like 'shearing." 'Shir' rhymes with 'her,' and I would expect a fashion designer to know that.

Lori Greiner and several hosts also pronounce 'jewelry" as 'jewl-ery.' And since the Q sells a lot of jewelry, this one is heard a lot.

Just a little constructive criticism from a loyal customer.

Yeah Lori Granier's Joooo-la-ree makes me wince.

Susan Graver also says 'lenth' not 'length'.

I agree about fabrication. and utilize instead of use. Another awful made up phrase is 'color way'. This comes in 3 'color ways'. What is wrong with just the word 'color'??? The hosts must really think they sound more intelligent or something by adding syllables or using two words when one is perfectly good enough.

and do not EVEN get me started on Shawn, I think it would be easier to list the words she says correctly instead of the ones she does not...

I agree with the OP, and I find it sad. I love our language, and I believe that words have meaning. But, I also agree that it's a lost cause. I know many people who have horrendous grammar and pronunciation (and spelling), but I don't consider all of them to be stupid. I think they just don't care about it as much as I do. I hope to be long gone by the time this wave works itself into full-blown Orwellian double-speak.

I have always thought that the incorrect word "majorly" came from the phrase: "major league." IOW, that some people didn't know it was "major league," and substituted what they heard...ie, majorly. Does anyone know what I mean LOL??

"Incorrect grammar and pronunciation is a major league problem"...not, a "majorly" problem...? As in "it's a major problem," as opposed to "it's a minor problem????"

Sidebar: Yes, I know I have a nerve talking since I misuse the ellipsis, and I'll probably hit "submit" and THEN see a spelling error or an apostrophe where none should be...

or ending a sentence with a preposition...

somebody stop me!!!!!!!!!!!!! ROFLOL!!
