I'm sorry, Marybeth...but every time I tune to QVC when you're on, within one minute, I have heard at least a couple: "Here's the thing". Maybe you are unaware that you do this, but it drives me insane, and I reufse to order when you're on. Just my own personal protest. Today, (01/04/16 @ 11:25 PT), on Discover Diamonique, it took exactly six seconds to hear "Here's the thing". I was really interested in the rolo bracelet, but changed the channel immediately. Please be more aware. Thanks.

Can't disagree, although it hasn't hit me that hard yet. Many of us complained over and over until PJD finally stopped the AZZ WELL. But it finally worked and she seems to have given up that phrase. Thanks, Pat.

So maybe Mary Bety will do the same if it's mentioned often enough, and she will make a real effort to stop this habit. She's a great hosts otherwise.

She may be a favorite of many, but she's not mine. Her favorite catch phrase is very hard not to miss and quite annoying to keep hearing over and over. Probably difficult for her to break that bad habit.

It's true that MBR uses that phrase a lot. In the days when I watched QVC more than I do now, the only host my husband would watch was Lisa Robertson. It was all a matter of his liking her looks. However, he soon tired of all the sales chit-chat so we made a deal. As soon as Lisa said the word "fabulous," I agreed I'd change the channel. Invariably, that would happen within one minute.

"Here's the thing" seems to be MB's trademark expression just like David V has the happy dance and yum yum face. It's like someone told the hosts to come up with a unique expression or mannerism to set them apart from the rest. Like I wrote in another post, it's like management is trying to appeal to drive-by channel surfers rather than those who watch for hours at a time. After a while these ticks get annoying, but they must have some data somewhere to support that the catch phrases lead to sales.

I started a thread about about just this subject just the other day.....MB said Here's The Thing probably 80 times during her show. It is a very bad habit. I think she just does not care to fix it. It is just not a necessary to say it to get the message across.. It is much like saying UM before you say something again and again....very hard to listen to.

I do not let anything any of them say bother me - I am sure that I repeat phrases and sayings in my own life, so I just let it roll off. They have a lot of time to "fill" so I guess they develop little phrases to fill time. Just my guess.

There are many other TV programs I can switch to if any of them get on my nerves, but so far so good!!

Sure, she seems like a very nice woman - but honestly as a host she has become boring and her presentations aren't very good.

Here's the thing - maybe it's time for her to move on.

I wonder if Q has a age policy when either man or woman gets to a certain age they're encouraged to retire? Yeah, I know it's against the law, but, when has that ever stopped companies from getting rid of you if they want to? Just go about it a different way till you yell Uncle and quit of your own volition. Happens everyday.

Boy oh boy I strongly disagree. I find her presentations to be enjoyable even with her repeated phrases, which by the way are called "place holders", almost the same as saying "Ah Ah". Sure, she could use a few new phrases but she holds my interest, isn't beating down the camara to get my attention and is a consumate professional..... I sure wouldn't be upset if there were a half dozen MORE MaryBeths......

I think several posters in this thread are guilty of ageism. Some don't like a phrase she uses too frequently and, somehow, that gets translated into a suggestion that she retire! I think MBR is about my age (54) and I find such ageism, albeit perhaps unintentional, to be very offensive.

I only watch David and Rick, if any. Here's the thing, the rest you can keep, they are an annoying bunch. I wanted to watch the Dyson Handheld spiel.... Kirsten presented.... what a poor excuse for a seller. Kirsten appeared to not know how to describe this product. I will NOT be buying this from QVC.

My response had nothing to do with age. Isn't Carolyn about the same age, and I think her presentations are fresh and fun.

I just think she is getting boring, plain and simple. I'd feel the same if she were 30 years of age.

I have no idea who MBR is. I do know that if you listen to your co-workers, family members, neighbors, etc. they all usually have a saying they use often. I know I have a few I am working on myself. I can understand if any host gets on your nerves as I leave the room at times when my daughters or fiancee are watching the show. I rarely watch except for when they call me to ask me to order them something. Would it be possible to just tune out at this time and go on line?

Is there a way to present this Constructive Criticism in private such as a message on FB?

One would certainly not like to see someone risk losing a job because of a habit. You can rest assured that QVC is aware of how much is sold when she is hosting.

I guess I would say the only reason I am stating this is I am mid aged and my company has just been purchased. We have many people worried about what is going to happen to them financially. It really touches home to see anyone regardless if they are young or old be at risk of being jobless. We already have too many people out of work.

Seems it's more of an issue for you than for MaryBeth. There are a couple hosts I just don't like so I don't watch them. I would never, ever think of telling them on this public forum what bothers me about them. And this "I refuse to order when you're on" is the silliest. And why say you're sorry when clearly you're not?

And btw, I don't care for her either so my comments are not in defnese of her.
