Would Someone PLease Do Their Job!

Your Program Schedule is Out of Date!! I have an elderly aunt who does not have a computer. Since QFC in all of it's wisdom will no longer send it's program schedule out to customers, she relies on me to print out the schedule and send it to her. To allow for mailing time I can only print three weeks of the program at a time and still have her program be up to date when the new week starts. QVC should be adding the new fourth week on Monday's of each new week. The first page of the program schedule of the four weeks remained Nov. 30th - Dec. 6th all day yesterday. I logged in today and it is still OUT OF DATE! I am happy to do this chore for her, but it still is a pain and costs me time and postage. I want to be able to send three weeks of new schedule information at a time and not have it be reduced to only two. DO YOUR JOBS!

I'm sorry regarding your aunt - that is hard, but I'm glad QVC no longer wastes its money sending me program guides. For years - even when I was buying thousands of dollars a year, those things went from my packages into the recycle without my ever opening them. They were as useful as most of the spam in my email.

Her cable provider doesn't have an onscreen program guide? A DVR with season passes for her favorite shows would also be helpful for her.

@Smrt, contact customer service and explain the situation to them and see if they can get either you or your aunt set up with the InsideQ magazine, which is available online or hard copy and has a schedule printed inside. Some people have access to this and others do not and it seems like giving more people the option to access the hard copy version would solve issues like this.

Not everyone has a cable provider or a TV with a cable guide. Some people are still using antennas and only get free TV stations, which can include QVC. Some people are set in their ways and don't like change, especially the elderly. Modern technology makes my life much easier and I LOVE my tech, but my mom finds it confusing and frustrating.

One day, several years ago now, my mom called me in distress. "Your father ruined my life!" she cried. I asked her what was wrong and she told me - he bought her an iPad. I told her that I wished he would ruin MY life that way, but she was too upset for jokes. She doesn't like change, hates to feel pressure to learn new things, and had ZERO desire for a computer in the house. I've always been super techie and was dialing into online forums with my external modem in the 1980s, but mom hates it. She does use the iPad now, but her skills are limited and more like a user who has had an iPad for 3 weeks than 3 years. It's a struggle and she calls me for tech support, but I live in another state and don't have an iPad, so I have to guess what's going on and help. Technology, whether it's basic cable or an iPad, isn't for everyone.

I know sometimes we just like to vent, but if I have a problem with something I will reach out directly to customer service. Call them or email them. They may be able to send out the program guides for you.

Sounds like it's time to get involved in new technology & get a computer. My 87 yr old MIL uses one & so does my 85 yr old dad. You could just turn on the TV to see what show is on. Does she buy that much from Q that it really matters what show is on when?

I was thinking the same thing- maybe they can snail mail the program guide to your aunt.

One poster mentioned that a person can get QVC without having cable- how?? ! It's a cable station!

@Smrt Thank you for taking the time to write. If you could email us your Aunts address or phone number to QVCSocialTeam@QVC.com I will gladly sign her up for the insider. The inside will have the programming that she is use to seeing. It does take 6 to 8 weeks to kick in but at least you would'nt have to continue to print the program guide for her.

Life happens. Business happens. Why should any retailer commit to a certain schedule or sale in advance? Sure, it'd be nice for your aunt but even a paper schedule won't remain current.

My cable provider's ( DIsh Network) online program guide is often wrong. you cannot rely on that to be correct either since they program the guide weeks if not months in advance and if anything changes from then until now, it will not get updated on the cable provider's guide.

OP, I am sorry but the only time you are going to get the most up to date schedule is online. Even the printed schedules were often wrong since those too were printed ahead of time and would not, obviously, capture any programming changes.

But those are often wrong too! If there are any programming changes from the time those printed schedules were made (which were well in advance so the likelihood of a programming change in the meantime is very possible) so that doesn't solve the problem.

Unfortunately the only way to insure that you have the correct scheduling changes is to check the online program guide- that is the only place that can be updated, even at last minute's notice, of any programming changes.

Of course they might still change, but that's only a part of the issuse here. A print version might have some errors, but it doesn't come with the associated hoop jumping that the OP is going through. No consumer should need to find, print, package, and mail a schedule to a fellow shopper because the store won't do it.

We could enroll your Aunt in the subscription for the InsiderQ and that does contain a program guide for the month. Then it would not take up any of your time and she would have it handy all month. The original post is pointing out something that is happening in our country, in the world for that matter. The QVC problem her aunt is experiencing is indicative of a far more significant issue. Many people who are in their 80s and 90s feel totally lost in this sea of new technology...even not-so-new technology. They want their old TV Guides, their paper bills and records, i.e., life as it was when they were young. My brother and I bought my mother a computer ten years ago. She is still intimidated by it. If something doesn't work she presses every button until the computer crashes. She just doesn't want to deal with it.

My mother is now 93. She called me to say her land line phone was beeping and she thought new batteries were needed but she didn't know how to deal with it. She was going to go to the AT&T store so they could fix it. I reminded her that not only was her phone service Verizon but that phone stores sell cell phones and tablets and do not do repairs. It's sad that a generation that saw so many changes feel left behind, but change is part of life and your aunt and my mother are going to continue to meet these roadblocks because businesses are not going to cater to them. It's a lesson to the rest of us to at least try to keep up.
