New 'variety show of new items on Q,' anyone?

If there is one thing that would get me to stop changing the channel or surfing the internet for other shopping opportunities, it would be a new variety show of NEW items on QVC. I have always loved to watch the Q for their informative presentations that teach us about the products, & I understand that especially now-a-days with the addition of often 'tell-it-like-it-is' customer reviews that can ruin potential sales, QVC is going to be understandably more selective about the products they show, knowing they could take a hit & be stuck with a lot of inventory of products that might not sell, otherwise. So, QVC is going to choose the winners & forego risking costly mistakes.

But there are only so many times we can watch the same presentation. Only so many of the same items purchased again & again in different bundles or repackaged.but still the same-ol' thing. And even at this time of year, there are just so many years of getting people the same gifts time & time again, until we will feel the need to move on.

My suggestion is, what I would love to see on the Q is a new variety show of only new items. *Only* new items, with a limit put on how long they've been for sale on the Q, such as 6 mos or a year, perhaps--and no fudging by acting like a product is new, when it is just a rebundled old item. Maybe put them under their own category on the website, with more specialized customer reviews that won't be as harmful...such as if someone wants to give a customer review of one of these new items, they have a check-list to follow, instead of a free-for-all say-anything diatribe, if they don't like the new product. Instead, maybe suggestions of what potential changes would clinch it for a buyer to purchase this item again, if they say they wouldn't do so. Slant the reviews to be as positive as possible, to give the new vendors a chance to make changes that perfect their items, then graduate them to a different show. This would be to prevent the death or massacre of a new item & vendor with negative harsh reviews, giving them a chance to gain important feedback & learn how to perfect new items, first. As a buyer, I would want to still see reviews...but I think it is fair to give new products more of a running start chance first, without being too judgemental or harsh. Categories could fix this issue, giving the customers new products to enjoy trying, with the understanding that they aren't yet time-proven as the old-timer 'star' products.

QVC has always shone at doing product presentations, but seeing the same items again & again is ruining it for me, and I've been moving on. For example, I was looking up a previous purchase on amazon recently, and had to go back a few years. I saw that my family's buying history has grown in leaps & bounds there each passing year, while I buy much less here, now. I'm sure I'm not the only one, and it is a shame because I trust QVC as a company, & would rather spend my $$ here. But there are just too few new products, and way too many repeats. There just isn't much to get excited about @ QVCanymore, and that is a shame. I was looking forward to new Black Friday deals, but they are just leftovers & rehash. Please, QVC: add more truly new content, much more often.

I pretty much buy from QVC the same things I've bought for years - minus jewelry which I quit buying anywhere just over 2 years ago.

Same with Amazon - I buy almost the same kinds of things over and over, mostly book related and odd household items that even my local hardware stores no longer stock.

So - would I tune in for a "new" show? - maybe if someone here told us it was on. Would I buy from that show? Probably not - I'm no longer target audience for new and different.

Repeat customers are very important to most businesses, but what I don't know is whether repeat customers who repeat their purchases the way I do make a whole lot of difference.

SerenityNowMyndi I thought your post was spot on! I rarely watch QVC any more be cause it is always the "same-old, same-old " in products. I can't believe they are dragging out the three year old inventory of flash games, kiddie cars, etc. for Christmas.

I really would watch a show of brand new items--with the guarantee that all of the items were absolutely brand spankin' new to the Q.

@Karnerblue You know what, Karnerblue? I would agree with you if I hadn't been ill for over 30 years, and struggling to find things to buy for my healthy family members while watching online shopping channels. If I were well, I would definiitely be having much more fun going out & about in person to all these stores in the real world, instead of being stuck shopping online & via the tv. But that isn't my reality, or many of the other people who watch these shopping channels. If that is your own reality, more power to you. If you are luckier than us, then shame on you for judging us. Next time, try to be more thoughtful, will you? If you aren't that thoughtful of a human being, then sorry--I have no use for you and will not give you another thought, because you have proven unworthy. Have the type of day you deserve.

@Serenity-Now you come across as bitter and angry. There are plenty of other online places to shop so QVC is only one of many, many options. If you feel their items are too repetitive, I'm sure you can find just as good or better elsewhere. I don't know what your explanation of your personal issues has to do with anything and my comment had no judgement at all. Just a simple comment.

@Karnerblue, funny but I thought the same thing about your comment. Look at the forum I placed my original post in, please. "Suggestion Box." It was a suggestion. It belongs here. There was absolutely zero benefit in your own snarky comment, which was intended to cause slight & belittle someone you don't even know. Who does that? Someone who is bitter & angry, someone who reads forums just so they can make snarky, mean-spirited comments. Trying to back-pedal and weasle out of it by pretending your comment was somehow beneficial? Laughable. And my mentioning that I am ill & have to do most of my shopping from home definitely applies to why I watch QVC in the first place, & had a suggestion for their suggestion box forum. That was a logical comment--yours had no value whatsoever.

Remember there are other people out here who know how to answer people like you, so you won't always get to snipe someone and walk away without getting a shot fired back across your bow. As for now, I'm moving on. Take your useless snarky comments somewhere else. Here's a thought: email yourself.

Wow. . . I came on to comment on the OP"s topic, and walked smackdab into an argument.

Let me bring this discussion back to the beginning. I would LOVE QVC to present a show of new items, or, as someone suggested a while back, a show of items that are available online, but never hit the big time on TV.

If programs like these were interspersed with the huge one-item shows, it would make QVC much more enjoyable--and much more watched.

@insomniac: I may have been a part of that thread you mentioned. We were talking about Clientele makeup, and how it is still available online, but never shown on the air anymore & how we wish they would still give presentations of some of these things. Yes, it would be terrific if they brought back a few presentations 'from the vault,' wouldn't it? I'd love that, too! Well...maybe not the pooping moose demo, lol!
