Dear Mods; Please Don't Let Me Post Until I've Signed In

I can't count the number of time I've done this now. I start reading the forum and see a post I want to reply to. I type a reply and hit Post. But, of course, I haven't signed in so I'm redirected to the sign in page. At which point I'm in a loop. I can't get past the sign in page. Please don't make the posting option available unless I'm actually signed in. I can't be the only person who has experienced this. Can this be fixed?

That happened to me more times than I can say until I finally got the idea. I would type a long reply, hit post only to be directed to sign in...very annoying. I felt like such a fool. Now, I get it. docsgirl

I've had this happen so many times that now I always check to see if I'm signed in first. I did notice, however, that when I got into that sign-in loop, I actually was signed in when it looked like it hadn't gone through, so I was able to post. Nevertheless, it's a very poor way to deal with the very real problem you've identified. QVC, please fix this. It's not rocket science.

This is a big pet peeve of mine... since I'm a programmer. The solution is not to prevent a post - but to return you back from where you came after you sign in - with your text still there and with the ability to do a successful POST.

Pinterest does this too. If you go to Pinterest from a link, you have to sign in, and then you go to the main page. Makes no sense at all and it is an easy programming fix.

Thanks for this thread, @smoky22. This a major design flaw. I have years of experience in IT systems design/implementation/management/support and I'm extremely surprised to see this happening on QVC's site. It's no wonder there are so many complaints about posts being lost... a well-designed site should immediately direct the user to the sign-in page if they try to add a response or have any other interaction which requires user identification. Very misleading, very poor programming.

This seems so basic. It's so annoying. I'm not in IT, but I don't think the site designer was either. 8)

Totally agree! If I am able to write a post, I had assumed I was in the correct location and the text would post. Then I couldn't find my post. It took several tries to figure it out. Maybe the moderators should add a large tab: ARE YOU SIGNED IN BEFORE YOU POST

It is irritating. Sometimes I'll respond to a post, click "submit," and find I'm nowhere. Then I realize I probably didn't sign in, so I do that, but my post, as I said, is nowhere, and I have to start over.

The logical thing would be to tell me to sign in before I start writing any response.
