I do feel that there is a lot of unnecessary criticism. However, i have also seen threads that have started off with legitimate criticism and soon been hijacked by those who would want to either shut it down or bash the hosts for fun. In these cases, I've been disappointed that the moderators, instead of removing the individual, controversial posts, have shut down the entire thread. I think that's a very lazy tactic on behalf of the moderators, and they would do better to set an example of these trouble-makers by allowing the people who are being constructive to move forward with the conversation. I know I'll get poofed if I mention specific examples, so I'll just say that I've seen this happen within the last 12 hours. If the moderators cannot properly manage the Q Talk and Suggestion Box Forums, and everything that is perceived as negative by them alone is inappropriate for posting, then it seems silly to even have those forums. It is becoming very difficult to tell what may be perceived as a counter-point versus a bashing during the course of these conversations. Lines are blurred, so that's why I think moderator's need to practice being more skillful surgeons rather than assembly line butchers.

Does everyone have to hero worship hosts and vendors on QVC? Surely they are all

not perfect! I know we can all improve in our performance on the job, and constructive criticism is one way we do that.

I, for one, shop on QVC for its products, not to be friends with its hosts. I am not invested in their personal lives and don't get upset if they do mention their kids or do not mention their vacation plans. If they gain weight or lose weight, that is none of my business. But when they don't give me pertinent information about the item they are trying to sell me, are repetitive to the point of distraction, then it becomes my business as a potential customer. I think I have the right to comment when a host is off task and doesn't give sizing or colors or spends so much time off task that they don't do the job that they were hired to do. I don't think that is being mean. In all reality, I rarely do that, as it is hardly ever worth the time to post, and with the new moderators breathing down our backs, it might get deleted anyway.

It would be best to remember that purpose of QVC and their hosts: to sell products to the public and to make a buck. They are not a charitable institution!

I also notice they remove entire threads and directly below that there will be another thread that contains very similar banter and yet nothing has been done. I also suppose that different moderators can also mean different interpretations/ subjective so therefore not consistent.

I don't get the fuss about the deletions. If you think there is a "fine line" between inappropriate comments and constructive critism/complaints - it isn't a fine line, it's obvious to most people. Of course the moderators, being employees of QVC, are going to err on the side of QVC - duh.

I rarely see actual non-personally-judgmental "constructive" criticism of hosts and vendors on these forums. 98% of it is knowing, deliberate host-bashing the poster tries (they think cleverly) to disguise as "something irritating to me that QVC should take notice of...because I won't buy if you don't." Yeahright.

Most moderators DO delete only inappropriate posts, BUT - they are responsible, in shifts, for the ENTIRE forum(s). It's not like they can spend 8-10 hrs on a few threads, constantly monitoring them and zapping posts one by one. They need to be watching the forums as a whole. And when certain people are determined to derail a thread or get it deleted by posting multiple, repeated inappropriate comments, it isn't time-effective to do other than stop the thread in its tracks. Because, for one thing, the inappropriate posters aren't going to stop.

Why do similar threads remain? Because people aren't reporting them. Report something enough, i.e. more than one person, and the moderators will read it.

Bottom line is that the moderators don't answer to the posters - nor should they.

I'm going to stop my many thousands of dollars worth of purchases because I don't like the QVC forum moderation? I suspect that just maybe, they've heard that one before. And don't care.

This morning I noticed someone posted about not liking a host's inappropriate comment which was made on air, yet that thread was deleted for being inappropriate. I don't understand how a host can make an inappropriate comment on air, but a viewer can be told it's inappropriate to voice a concern about it here.

It's quite possible that the moderators/QVC felt the host comment was not inappropriat/offensive and/or that the way the "inappropriateness" was discussed was inappropriate. Their call. I didn't see the thread or the posts, so I don't know.

Honestly? After having just read the article in another thread about behind the scenes at QVC, I don't think QVC cares who they might potentially offend or which customer doesn't like what, as long as a host's sales numbers, and sales at QVC as a whole, stay up. Largely, those who post on the forums (a small fraction of those who buy) are the older demographic that are more likely to be "offended" by various and sundry compared to millenials, and QVC knows they will be losing those customers eventually anyway. They are all about attracting and keeping the younger shoppers - who don't have time to post their thoughts online. Again, not trying to be snarky, I just think that's the way QVC sees it.

Something that I wish the moderators/QVC would address (other retail forums do this) is to take note of posters who frequently post inappropriately in order to derail a thread or have it deleted, posters who frequently start inappropriate (political) threads, and posters whose posts are frequently deleted for rudeness/meanness.

Have an algorithm to help with this, so someone who, say, has 25% of their posts removed would go on a list that all moderators would have access to. A warning could be sent. A mechanism should be in effect so that a bunch of people reporting posts that are NOT inappropriate, just to get rid of a poster they don't like, would not work. If someone had received two warnings, it could require a consensus of all moderators to ban them at strike 3. However QVC would like to handle it.

By never doing anything more than deleting individual posts, those posters (who are often the ones who say they no longer shop at QVC) have no incentive to stop - which makes the moderators' job pretty tedious. I'm sure they'd rather be doing more positive things as moderators.

It would be nice if they could stop posters from following other posters from thread to thread reporting posts that are in no way inappropriate, but, we can't even get an ignore button so that's not happening any time soon..
