DELETE AND DO NOT PERMIT POSTS CONCERNING HOSTS

It is really sad but I believe it in the best interest of all if the QVC Moderators of the Forum would no longer permit postings about the QVC hosts, their families or anything pertaining to them.

Just completely make it against Community Standards and delete any attempts to discuss hosts.

This will stop all of the host bashing and discussions about them, their persona, families, etc.

I realize in doing so it would eliminate positive comments but those can be posted on the social media of these people.

It would benefit the hosts, rid the forum of many negative comments, and defuse many posters.

I can only see that it would do more good than harm. The forum isn't there for that purpose anyway, as it goes against Community Standards even thought it occurs consistently.

As in other aspects of life, we sometimes must give up the good because of those who have been bad.

I TOTALLY agree with the intent of your post, BUT as a teacher of preadolescents and adolescents for many years, I STILL have the overly optimistic notion that at some point in life, EVERYBODY develops at least a tiny bit of compassion, integrity, and common sense.
Since some of the posters to whom you refer have not yet done so, I may wind up throwing in the sponge and agreeing with you.

I would miss opportunities to compliment hosts, vendors, and models. Personal attacks should be fodder for deletion. My 2¢.

I understand your viewpoint and don't disagree to a point. I would like to ask that only positive posts be allowed. But ever since the initiation of the Forum it has been a problem, and the moderators had the opportunity to delete individuals, but it continues.

I feel the only way to stop it now it to

no longer permit it. I'm hoping your kind words and comments could be directly given to the hosts via other sources for now.

I agree with the intent of your post, HOWEVER, I do not think throwing the baby out with the bath water is the answer. I have found that the majority of posters here are intelligent, mature, and considerate. They perfectly understand bashing and hiding behind " just stating a fact," versus inquisitive, supportive, and complimentary comments. The hosts now even post their own blogs in the midst of other postings. Carolyn's heartfelt and warm update on her condition could and indeed have prompted many well-wishers and comments of similar, personal challenges that I'm sure have helped many others. Or, "I haven't seen Lisa Mason...sending prayers her way."

I do not agree with banishing anything of any kind ever being posted in regards to the hosts.

So where does it stop? We can't discuss politics or current events. We can't talk abaout the hosts and/or vendors. Then we can't talk about the merchndise, then what? And don't forget Customer Service. Are we fast reaching a point where there is really no reason for a QVC Board to even exist?

I remember one host who had a drop off line for every sentence. It was driving everyone nuts - and after lots of posts to that effect, she finally stopped! I see no reason to stop talking about the hosts. They represent QVC and they are the connection between the viewers and the company. I think the Board already has too many "don'ts". Take away a few more things and most of us would find it entirely too restrictive to bother coming here.

What is next? No critique of a QVC product, only positive glowing comments about everything offered here? Sorry, but I cannot agree with this suggestion at all. Constructive criticism is necessary in all walks of life, from ditch digging to brain surgery. No one should be immune.

This isn't to say that a host should be attacked for his/her weight or other physical attributes or in a way that is cruel or inappropriate. But suggesting that someone not overuse a phrase, or act in a more professional manner, or even give size information when describing fashion items --can make shopping at QVC a more pleasant and efficient process.

TV shopping is a unique experience. It is not the same as mall shopping, or even online shopping. And for a lot of us, separating the host from the product is difficult, which is why sometimes it is necessary to eliminate that component from the equation when the host interferes with the shopping experience. Many times it is easier to look at items online that to deal with watching live tv; however you do lose some information about the product even with the video. Some hosts need to do their jobs better, and if constructive criticiam by customers could effectuate some improvement, I say go for it.

We're adults and have opinions. I can understand not wanting bashing, but all talking about hosts or vendors is not mean and calculating.

If they take any more away from us, we may as well go back to grade school.

Life is not all rainbows and roses. We can deal with that. This board needs to grow up and act it's age!!

Apparently I do not know the difference between constructive criticism and a honest opinion. QVC should 'take to heart' the flaws we see in their hosts that would entice us, as customers, to watch and buy.

So I just change the channel.

I thought it was up to qvc to set the guidelines and standards not the moderators. The moderators already seem to interpret the guidelines differently.

Because some of the QVC hosts are promoting themselves as 'celebrities' instead of salespeople selling products, they are opening themselves up to controversy and discussion, both positive and negative. To only permit positive comments or to eliminate all postings regarding the hosts is censorship. Unless a posting is particularly offensive or hateful, all opinions should be allowed on these boards. IMO, not all negative comments are "host bashing". I don't consider a comment about a host wearing something unflattering or putting on weight or acting unprofessional to be "bashing". Yes, some of the comments have gone over the line, but I don't see that as being the majority. If any negative comments about the hosts is so upsetting to readers of these forums, then simply don't read them, don't comment on them, don't acknowledge them.

Some posters here (all very well written and thought out comments) are implying that they are unable to discern the differences between an equally thoughtful and carefully written negative observation and a bash? How is that possible?

I absolutely disagree with you. To take away the rights of the majority because of a few is not the answer. You’re verging on “freedom of speech”. The board has moderators that take care of the posters who don’t abide by the rules. I do not believe in bashing and have faith that the improper posts will be deleted.

I believe constructive criticism is a positive. I would think QVC would want to know the things that customers like and dislike about presentations. That being said, there is a difference between 'so and so is an idiot' and 'it would be helpful if so and so presented more information about the product.' One is bashing and the other useful info.
I agree with the poster that said the hosts, in some cases, present themselves as celebrities not as salespeople, which opens them up to more criticism.

There is no freedom of speech on internet forums. Legally the owners of the message board can set the rules as they see fit. Free speech doesn't apply.

First, that font gives me a headache, so I only skimmed what you wrote.

Second, I don't think positive posts should be disallowed. The Mods are deleting the bashing posts and I think that's good. But banning ALL host comments and feedback seems excessive and takes it too far.

You can't just ban everything because someone might say something mean. That's throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Better to address the individuals causing trouble than to punish everyone because of the few. Making blanket rules like no posts about hosts because someone might bash reminds me of all of the dystopian movies and books out today. People start with a utopian idea that should make everyone much happier, but that doesn't work because you can't make everyone happy. And piling restrictions on people in pursuit of utopian happiness leads to dystopia.

Yes, we should just post happy, happy things like about rainbows, flowers, kitties, and the weather. If a host makes a fool out of herself, just shut your eyes, pretend it didn't happen and never mention it to a soul. Write a post about unicorns instead.

I wish the polyannas on the boards would grasp the concept that not everybody feels as they do. Some people have brains they'd like to use.

I think it is a good idea. I thought that there were people on these boards who reached new levels of nastiness especially in cases where the host was well liked and popular with QVC viewers.

As has been said, no need to throw the baby out with the bath water. No need to disallow all posts and threads regarding hosts and vendors, or most other things.

Those who post here are adults, presumably. They know full well when they are posting inappropriately, protestations to the contrary notwithstanding. They know their posts deserve to be, should be and will be deleted. It's their aim to disrupt the forum and run through it like wild animals.

If all host threads are disallowed, they've won. Why should they be allowed to push and shove to board domination?

Nah. Leave the normal, ordinary posts up and just delete or ban the chronic recurrent offenders who have demonstrated they will never stop any other way.
