Moderator: PLEASE listen to the posters

Moderators: I have read many, many, many posts in which the subject of the new format being "difficult to read". Personally, my eyes start watering and/or itching after a very short time.

Why can't you go back to the old program and use the same font family, size, and colors that were used previously?

The forum is provided as a way to communicate across the nation with other QVC fans, and frequently when someone mentions a certain item, I will look up that item up. Sometimes I order it, sometimes I don't. I used to scan the whole list of posts and read those that interested me. Now I only go to the one thread and then sign off.

If too many people leave this forum, because of something that could be so quickly fixed, I predict you will see a decrease in sales.

I have to agree. First, this stark white background is very hard on the eyes. A softer screen would help tremendously. Also the print choice is too small. I guess there are ways to enlarge it, but why should we have to? Can't the Mods enlarge the standard print, and then if others want to change theirs they can. But what they have now might be fine if you're under 30. After that, it gets too small. I haven't found a way to enlarge my own screen, and I can only watch/read for about ten minutes or so without a major headache. And yes, we mature folks do have money to spend.

Wismiss, the link in my signature will take you to a post with directions on how to change your default font size and other things. You can also change the default font size on your browser instead of through the forums.

Because changing it allows everyone to choose their own size of choice, versus accepting whatever choice they are handed. If you want it extra large, you can choose that without forcing that choice on me when I don't want it. This way people have options.

Chynna Blue, I have tried several different font families, font sizes, and colors and something still doesn't seem right. When I look at other posts, if they do choose larger fonts, the lines are tightly together without space between lines.

If you just take a quick glance at a page of posts, it looks messy. If you received a letter from a company and it looked like this, what would your thoughts be of that company? If this page was a home page on a company's site, would you find it easy to see? One of the most irritating things is the huge print of the title on every post. Why is it necessary to include the title of the thread on every post? Just making that one change would reduce the extra unneccessary print.

If you take your hands and cover all the outside "extras", and look at only the posts, it still doesn't look right. Then throw back in all the outside extras, and it's not very user friendly or eye pleasing.

Thank you for your suggestions, though, and I will continue to try changing fonts and size until I find one that is more pleasing to the eye.

If you press the ctrl and the + sign at the same time it will make your print easier to read. I am not sure if it gets bigger or just darker. It helps and is easy to do.

You can change or customize your own fonts by using the tool bar at the top of each posting screen.

I understand your request, as I started a similar thread a couple weeks ago asking for a little bit of color, since the white was difficult on my eyes, too. I also just thought some background color would make it more inviting and visually appealing.

However, it is not the moderators who would be making these changes. The moderators are here to make sure the Community guidelines are being properly followed and to help things run smoothly. Posting in the Suggestion Box was the right thing to do, though. That's why it's here. Maybe we'll see some changes down the road as a result of many suggestions/requests like this.

Edit: I tried using color but when I copied and pasted it did not do all the changes I had made. But, I still think you get the idea.

The gray background in your post makes it much easier to read the text amd definitely much easier on the eyes. Would be nice if the mods would have the white background changed to gray to reflect this improvement.

I don't think the moderators were the designers of the format that is being used. I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't like the white background.

ChynnaBlue, It seems like you have a good idea, but really they should change the standard font, imo. For one thing, changing it makes it a little better, but not the best. It is still hard to read. For instance, as I scroll through the posts I have to strain to see the message number. As I am answering your post, I see your post is #4 of 13, and it has had 276 views. That is very very tiny font, and very faint. No reason for this to be hard to read when there is so much white space around here! I hope they tone down the background and make this easier to read. I think people will be here less and less and may even leave for good. How can QVC think that is a good thing. I would think they would want this to be a place where people would want to come.

I have changed my font size in preferences (or whatever section it is) to extra-large. After my reply posts, and I read it back, it is not very well spaced between the lines. The only way I can explain it is that my paragraph is squished together. There should be better spacing between the lines of print. This forum was not tested well, or maybe not even tested.

Oceantown: You said what I was trying to say. A post looks like it's been squished together without spaces between the lines. And, I have tried using different font families and sizes. On the reply it looks OK as I am typing it and then when it is published, it looks different.

I feel for you if you can't read the new format. I am 61, wear one contact lense for distance so I am not some young thing trying to be a smart alec. I have no trouble reading the forum and if I do, I adjust myself to being able to read it. For instance, I close one eye occasionally to see better. I sit closer or further from the screen to see better. I adjusted my posts to have dark print and larger font to make them easier to read. I would imagine if a poll was taken and everybody that uses the forum voted, I don't think that the majority of us would vote to change the font, size, color or whatever to make it easier to read.

Like I said, I feel bad for you, but you need to make adjustments to your font, etc. I don't think they are going to change it.

Font style and font size should be consistent on a forum...not like on this thread where you see smaller light text, then even smaller bright blue text, then large bold dark text. Having these fluctuations is what hurts my eyes. It should be the individual's responsibility to change their entire screen to their liking either in their Preferences (I don't know if those have been made permanent yet) or by using Ctrl + or -. And please...get rid of the colors!

Hello @Perkup! I'm sorry you are having trouble with font size. We are looking into having it enlarged overall. In the meantime, here are the steps to change your personal font size:

After you sign in, scroll down to Edit My Preferences underQuick Links on the left side. From there you can set your Preferences the following ways:

To permanently change font size:

Click on Display

Scroll to Text Size and choose your preferred size and click SAVE.

Changing Topic order from oldest first to newest first or to change the number of Topics/posts on a page:

Click on Linear Layout Settings

Choose sorting order – oldest or newest first
Choose posts/topics per page – change the numbers up to 50 per page> click Save

I agree. While a choice of font styles is nice, the overchoice isn't suited to a forum like this.

We actually read by seeing the shapes of words, because as we read, over the years our brains store the words in a visual library of sorts. We don't "sound out" each word like we do in 2nd grade.

Colors, fonts like Comic Sans, large fonts, serifed fonts can throw off our content comprehension when we have been reading Helvetica or Arial on most websites -

Plus, consistent fonts and sizes keep the content clean as there are enough busy elements what with the topic headings, avatars amd such.
