I can read that the last reply was "15 mins. ago" or "one hour ago" but the date the topic began is not readily available.

Can you correct this Q?

If you go to the opening post it will give the time if it was posted that day, otherwise it will say "yesterday" or "Monday" etc.

To change the "relative time" display (it's relative to NOW), go to "My Settings," then choose "Preferences," then click on "Display" and uncheck "Use relative dates (three hours ago)."

Then, be sure to click SAVE at the bottom of that screen.

Edit My Preferences

displayed in the column on the left side of each forum beneath the list of Forums & Blogs, etc.)

dooBdoo, do you think there is any way to get the time of the original post to show on the pages listing all the threads? It shows the time and date (I changed it to that) of the last post, but it doesn't show when the thread was originated. Or have I missed something?

I don't know, Kitty. I see the actual date/time on all postings, on the original and the responses and on the list of topics when I click on a thread.

(Of course, this won't be true when we're not logged in since it's a part of our personal preferences.)

I wonder if anyone else is seeing what you describe.

I hope I'm making myself clear. Remember on the old forum, on the page like Viewpoints listing all the thread titles, under the title it said who started it, and the date and time it was started. Now it's there on the OP's post AFTER you go into the thread, but I don't see anything like that on the pages listing all the threads.

Wait. I think I understand. When we click on a forum, we see a list of threads. In the rightmost part of the thread info we see only the date/time of the last post and the name of the person who created that post (which allows us to click on the date/time there and go directly to the last post, by the way).

However, we don't see (in that list of threads) the date/time of the original post.

I don't know anything about the software used for these forums, but perhaps they can add that. The problem they face is cluttering up the screen with too many pieces of information.

Maybe so. Funny thing is, all that information was there on the old forum. Wonder what made it disappear on this one? Oh well....

It's the layout of the list of threads. I've been playing around with different settings, and there's one which shows the date/time of the original post... but it also shows a "family tree" style list of the responses beneath it. Not a good look!

This current layout uses so much open space but doesn't allow as much info into those spaces. Perhaps with enough suggestions, they'll make changes.

doobdoo, thank you for the tip on "unchecking 'use relative dates'." It worked and now I can see a date and time of the OP's post, like we had before. Thank you so much.
