How do you store an opened bottle of wine used for cooking...not "cooking" wine bought at grocery store....and how long can you keep an opened bottle?

Store in the fridge. It won't last months if that's what you are asking. My store has little individual bottles you can buy.

I occasionally drink Snapple in the glass bottles. I always save the bottles and reuse them for everything. I pour leftover wine in them and store in the fridge. Many times, the wine fills the whole bottle and there is little air in there that causes the wine to go bad.

i also use these bottles to refill with water, soft drinks, tea, whatever I need to pack to go.

Do not reuse plastic bottles. Only the glass ones can be cleaned and reused.

I use a gadget called an Air Cork. It's a tube with a balloon on one end, and an inflater on the other end. I put the uninflated balloon in the bottle of wine and pump air through the tube to inflate the balloon. The balloon inflates to fill the area above the wine. So far, it has effectively kept the wine tasty for about 2 months at the longest. I bought it on Amazon for around $25. The instructions state that the balloons are reusable about 80 times, and replacement balloons are $4.

I used to use Vacu-vin system. rubber stoppers with slit in the top to alllow you to suck the air out of the bottle. Worked well but I don't cook with wine all that much so I have graduated to the wine in a box. I've had some open for well over a month and it is still good for drinking. Bettter than consistantly letting half a bottle go to waste. Freezing wine...
