Where do you save recipes on your computer?

Where do you find recipes on your computer?

I find a lot on FB - especially since my cousin's wife posts recipes every day.Her's are always delicious. I store them in my POCKET app. Every so often I go through and delete the ones I haven't used.

My favorite so far - from my cousin's wife - creamy sundried tomato and chicken pasta.

I take screenshots on my iPhone and iPad of recipes I find on the internet then save them in the Note app. That way they are easily available on my phone when I'm at the grocery store.

i save recipes to pinterest and they are all organized there.

it is my online scrapbook.

I don't save any of them on an electronic device, I print them out and put them in a photo album, yes, the old fashioned kind with

pages and peel back sheets.

When it's time to make something, I'll put the sheet from the photo album binder and if it's no good, toss in the trash and it's gone. If it is good, date it and mark very good so I can enjoy it again.

I still use a PC and on which I have a folder named "Recipes." That folder is broken down into sub-folders, categories, like a cookbook, e.g., appetizers, beverages, confections / desserts, main dish, etc. As of this typing, 1,700 documents are saved in the sub-folders.

I have a three ring notebook that I started as a sophmore in high school! Over the years, I've added and added. The notebook is so over stuffed the outer edge of the notebook is about 4 inches apart!

I also have recipies on the computer in a recipe file.

I use the archive feature in my e-mail for most of the recipes that are of interest to me. I also have folders for specific ones like baked goods, crockpot recipes, and holiday recipes. Since I just got a new printer, I do print out some recipes that I use often.

This is pretty much what I do, in my FOOD folder that's stored in MyDocuments. I've got all of those breakdowns, plus Reference and some separate folders for specific recipe types like barbecue, chicken salad, kale, Chinese food, etc. Just checked and I have 1,153 files in there. But I have more than that many hard-print cookbooks. I love reading about food.

Love your recipes, too, @IamMrsG. Always look forward to your thoughtful posts.

I tried to use the computer for recipes but was unhappy with it. I print out recipes or tear them out the magazines and put them into a folder. As I try them and if I think they are worth keeping I retype them with any changes I have made, print them, put them in sheet protector. I bought a bunch of notebooks at Costco and labeled them with things like appetizers, breakfasts, sauces, etc. I put the recipes in the proper notebook. For me it is much easier to make a grocery list this way or to decide waht to make for a dinner party, etc.

I do two things - the ones that I copy onto a Word or Works document I save in a folder I created called 'Recipes'.

Secondly, if it's something on a website that I don't actually copy onto my computer, then I have a folder for them in my 'Favorites' or 'Bookmarks', depending on the browser. Therefore, those are not actually saved on my computer but the links are saved to access them.

But the ones I really want to keep the most, I copy them onto a Word-type document, using software on my computer, clean them up by increasing size to fill the page, fixing the format, etc, then I PRINT them out and additionally still save them in the 'Recipes' folder that I have on the computer under 'Documents'.

Forgot to say - the ones I print up are put in plastic sleeves and into a categorized binder that I keep. That way I won't ever lose them if my computers die. But I also do copy the ones that are on my computer onto an external hard drive, as well.

I do the same thing on my Mac--folders are in the documents area. AND I have a HUGE notebook of printed recipes from the QVC Shop Talk and Boards in the 1990. Including Inky Dinky Doo Q, which is what I named her wonderful slow-cooker bbq recipe, and so many other great recipes!

I have notebooks with tabs, ie chicken, pork, Italian, soup, etc. I have a pinterest board that I post some recipes on so if someone wants a copy, I can just refer them to the board.

My most tried and true baking recipes are on cards and laminated.

I use them constantly.

I have desktop folder for some, but almost never refer to it.

Most are organized on Pinterest and I don't know how I ever lived without it.

As a young wife, I compiled several binders of recipes. In the days before computers, I refered to them often. I've since thrown them away. When I cleaned out my dad's home, he had a shelf of at least 20 binders. It pained me to get rid of them, but I simply don't have room for them and they wound up in the recycling dumpster. I've reduced my cookbook collection to a handful of vintage books.

The truth is, when I need a recipe I look online, so my cookbooks are simply nostalgic.

I pin them to my Pinterest account. Have a pin button at the top of my screen that I push when I find a recipe I want to try. Gets put into whatever board I want.

I copy & paste recipes in an email to myself. I have a recipe folder on my email account.

I switched over to Pinterest after having so much clutter and going through ink and paper printing stuff out. I love cookbooks but have stopped buying because of space issues.

isnt it so easy?

i can also refer people to a particular recipe by telling them to find it on my pinterest page and under which category. i can also share recipes easily from there. i can access my pinterest from a laptop, my phone, or my tablet.

i do still have old recipes that are in a binder.....and i do still collect cookbooks, but pinterest really is the best way.
