I don't think I would choose to microwave scallops. It would just turn them to rubber.

I saw those, too, and was tempted but I would have wanted to know where they are from. I find that seafood from Southeast Asis makes my throat itch and close up.

But you don't need instructions with anything like that, although I'm pretty sure they do provide them. Every food product I have purchased came with instructions. Generally, I choose to do it in a way that I think is better, but they are there.

Blot scallops to dry them, sear in a hot skillet that you've added a bit of oil to, & just before you flip them over, add a pat of butter to the skillet. Baste for a minute or so.

Done in about 3 minutes!

I wouldn't order them from the Q.

1st. Frozen Scallops are flavorless

2nd. It's hard to get them perfectly cooked when they were frozen and thawed.

Suggestion...buy some fresh scallops from your meat dept at your favorite grocery store and enjoy them.

In a frying pan, melt a tablespoon of butter and sear one side, then turn and sear the other. A little salt and pepper is all you need. It's when cooking the frozen one's you need to mask the flavor and all these seasonings, not with a fresh scallop.

It's a given, I think, that choosing fresh over frozen anything is almost always preferable. It isn't always possible, though.

Particularly in landlocked regions it is advisable to specifically ask the seafood counterperson if their product is fresh or refreshed. That's a clever marketing term for thawed.

Fresh, plump scallops are such a luxury!

I grew up in New England, so never gave a thought to the freshness of seafood. It was just always available!

We had a cottage 2 houses from the ocean on Cape Cod while I was growing up, and sometimes in the Fall, a neighbor would be dragging for scallops. I remember holding one in my hand, and along the membranes were beautiful, sparkly blue eyes. So pretty!

There are Scallops Fests on the Cape, always in September, if anyone wants to visit N.E.!

Two years ago, I moved from an east coast harbor town, all the way to a landlocked state, so fresh seafood is now a thing of the past.

Oh well, but it has other pluses!

ETA: pictures!

Scallops are my favorite and I have a very very small kitchen. I recently bought a counter top induction cooktop and absolutely love it. I only buy dry scallops so they get a beautiful golden sear on them, the microwave will turn them to rubber. If you have the space for the induction cooktop, I highly recommend it, then you can pan fry your scallops! Good luck, I hope this helps!
