Really? 1694 Pages?

I check into the Q Forum every few days and always see the Pot Sticker Soup blog under Recipes that goes back to the year 2015. I can't help but wonder why the Q allows anything here to get to 1,694 pages. Seems like it's time to start a new post unless you just skip to the last page. JMO.

I don't post on that one, but I do join in on a couple of other longstanding threads so I'll put in my 2 cents worth. I recall that you asked about the long-term threads before, so you'll probably get the same answers here as you did on your other threads.

Personal settings allow us to have the last post listed first, or to immediately jump to the last post we read on our previous visit, so it's easy to find the most recent comments. (Also, the number of pages you see may vary from what others see, depending on our settings. I forget what the default is, but mine is set to 15 posts per page within a thread.) I come from an IT background, and I see no technical reason to arbitrarily pick a length, cut the threads off, and restart them.

This is a community of human beings and, as such, we sometimes are lucky to form friendships. People make connections, some posters find the threads to be a welcoming, relaxing, entertaining "soft spot to rest" when they come here. I think it's lovely that QVC provides a venue for this. As suggested before, if you'd participate in the conversations you'd understand why they're here and how they function. I know I'd offer a warm welcome to you, and I think everyone else would, too.

About a year and a half ago, I got very frustrated with some aspects of the forums, mainly those posters who just seemed to get some kind of pleasure from making mean, snarky comments to others, no matter the subject. I had recently lost my precious little cat after 4 years of her battling kidney disease and I mentioned it here. One poster said something that hurt me quite a bit, and I stopped coming to the forums. I hated to do that because there were people here who I liked and admired and considered "friends"... but I just needed a break. I checked in once in a while, but never posted.

Recently I've had some very sad family issues, and decided to just "check in" again. I saw some familiar names and started posting again. There is a thread called "Pictures of Just Cats - the Original" that always gave me a boost if I was having a down day, or just needed a laugh. Thank goodness it's still here. It's just what it says - pictures of cats, funny beautiful wonderful cats and kittens. It's mostly pictures, but some of us have developed relationships through talking about our cats or other animals, rescue stories, etc. As dooBdoo said, "it is a soft spot to rest" when I needed it very much. On my computer, its well over 500 pages, over 10,900 replies. When the boards were redone a few years ago, they were going to take down some of these long-standing threads, but there was such an uproar from posters that they kept them. And thank goodness they did.

These threads don't hurt anyone, you can ignore them if you choose, but those of us who love them and sometimes post on them value them greatly.

@kittymomNC. I don't want to quote your whole post, but comment on the last paragraph. That says it all. These threads are very important to the posters who participate. Only the ones that don't are causing an uproar. I also saw this happen before. Just scroll on buy for anyone who doesn't like them.

@jannabelle1 I am a regular on that thread and all I can tell you is that the fun, friendship and support I find there every day has been a gift to me. I tiptoed in a few years ago and have never looked back and couldn't believe how welcoming this group was since I was a new poster at the time. I hope folks swing on by and join us please! . . .

We have become dear friends and supporters! Many have joined us and we know many read the thread while not posting.

Recipes, tips, food ideas, home ideas, creative ideas are all shared! More importantly, friendships have been formed that will last a lifetime. Support is given when times are rough.

It is truly one of the greatest blessings I have received.

We are ALWAYS within the guidelines and rules of this forum. There is no valid reason to end our thread.

@ChiliPepper, thank you so much. I've had 2 wonderful miniature poodles and 4 cats who are little angels now, and 2 new 5 month old kittens I adopted from a feral family - the others live in my yard. (Pictures and story of all of them on the "Pictures of Just Cats-Original" thread). You are so correct that some wounds just never heal. She was a little black and white tuxedo (my avatar), so sweet and loving, and we developed such a bond over those four years of medicine, almost 500 trips to the vet, and all that goes with that. I guess, although I have adored and do adore all my animals, I was blessed with this one little very special soul, entrusted to me, and I still cannot talk about her without tears. Thank you for caring. I have found that caring spirit with other posters that I knew before, and it has helped to take away the hurt that one poster caused - and she's still on the boards. I hope you and your fellow posters have a wonderful day. I might come and check out your thread when I get a chance - it sounds like fun!

And I'm so sorry for the snarky remarks made to you by someone on one of these boards. I will never understand. I think there is great vacancy in their hearts and need to hurt someone to validate their hurting. It just serves no purpose.

You, @jannabelle1 and anyone else, are completely welcome to comment on the Pot Sticker thread. As said so eloquently by @momtochloe, @RespectLife, and @ChiliPepper we welcome all that want to join in and share. If you scroll thru the pages you will see lots of recipes (you might have to read some of the posts to see why a recipe was shared-they would make no sense otherwise), hopes, dreams frustrations, support and fun. No snarkiness allowed.

I think sometimes it's easy to consider this site as "just a shopping forum" instead of peering in and really seeing the flesh-and-blood ladies and gents on the other side of the nicknames. That's one of the joys of posting on the longstanding threads... we have the rich opportunity to get to know each other in multi-dimension. As a result, when we read other threads, we have a better understanding of the experience and context each person brings to different topics. If more of this could happen, we'd have less conflict and the written word wouldn't be quite as clumsy and open to misinterpretation... we would give each person the benefit of the doubt. I continue to have hope.

I think most of us have been the target of attack(s). Sadly, it will happen from time to time. I mentioned on another thread that the statement "hurt (adjective) people hurt (verb) people" is usually true. When they lash out, they accomplish one thing: instead of making their target look bad, they shine a spotlight on their own character. And the readers come away remembering what they saw. I hope all the compassionate posters (the overwhelming majority) can overcome the negativity a few sad souls tend to bring here. LIfe's too short to allow others to darken our hearts, and they certainly shouldn't have any power over us. Take care.❤️

Oh, she is a beauty!!! I have 3 rescues now & you are adopted by the ones that need you but I have always had a special place in my heart for the little tuxedos. I had a sweet tuxedo as a kid many, many (many!!!) years ago. Her name was Buttons &, as with every one since, I loved her dearly.

@ChiliPepper and @kittymomNC, My little one, Rosie, is a gray tuxie! I've been owned by cats my entire life, but this is the first tuxie and her personality is wonderful! She loves to ride on my shoulder, and she's a velcro cat nearly 24/7. I've adored all my kitties, but she's the most loving and "lap-catty" one I've ever known. She came out of the forest and rescued me a few years ago.❤️ I want to say I'm glad @jannabelle1 started this discussion... it brought new people together, and we've learned about new threads, too. I hope anyone who likes to chat a bit will visit @ShowMe's "SHOWME'S Mr. Lucky......" thread in Community Chat. We're more chatty some days than other days, but we do support and care for all who participate. And we get a wee bit weird there, sometimes, too...😜

I wandered in one day because I was curious to see what that thread was all about and now it's pretty much the only place I post when I'm at work.

It is not unlike the Fiestaware thread and Pancake Had Her Kittends thread. They just sort of "stick."

@dooBdoo, my new little one is all gray with white under her chin and her name is Rosie! How about that?! Her brother is all black except for white under his chin, and his name is Rascal. He got that name because, when all four little kittens (and the older two) would see me come out with food, they ran in all directions, but he would come running towards me, little bitty boy with big ears. I fell totally in love with him (he wasn't my first choice to keep actually, but the others were too feral), and Rosie followed him everywhere so what could I do - keep both! The duration of the thread in question has no bearing on my opinion of it. I thoroughly disagree, however, with the burying of recipes inside it. I know it’s not a private conversation, that anyone can read or participate and that the invitation to do such has been extended. Nonetheless, it must also be acknowledged that the perception is of a clique which, whether intentional or not, precludes the sharing of recipes.

My suggestion is to, by all means, continue the conversation, the friendship; but, in the future, make a point to create new threads for sharing recipes with everyone.
