Indian Tacos

Has anyone else ever have one (or two, or...)?

Had some one year like forever ago on vacation up in South Dakota and Wyoming- anyhow, had some of them close to the Badlands of South Dakota. Yummyyyy, yum, yum!

I recently FINALLY looked for recipes for them online - found quite a few, and a few even from South Dakota too. Never knew they had such things down into Oklahoma also.

The difference is - unlike tacos we normally think about with crispy shells or soft tortillas - these are made with fresh fry bread. That seems pretty easy to make too - pretty basic.

Something a little different. And, they are made with ground buffalo instead of beef or chicken - not saying of course you can't use whatever you want.

Looking forward to trying my hand at these - they are real good. Look 'em up say like at All Recipes.com and sees what y'all think. Happy taco making!!

@CAMOGIRL Yes, I've had several. Love, love, love them. I've had them at Farmer's Markets and other fair-type venues. Had them at applefests in CO, too. They had them at the Balloon Fiesta in NM this year. Awesome sauce, as my youngsters would say.

They were made with fry bread. My Mom would make fry bread on Saturdays. Just used frozen bread dough and a iron skillet with oil. Fabulous!!! YUM!! You are making me hungry. LOL

A local restaurant makes sandwiches and individual pizzas using frybread but I have never had tacos.

I like fry bread.

I've had the tacos before when I have attended Pow Wows.

A casino we visit had Indian Fry Bread Taco Salad on the menu. I ordered it, and it was very filling. Think of a taco salad in a bread bowl.
