I've had diverticulitis several times and had to go on that diet. There are numerous low fiber lists online.

Here are some suggestions from THE MAYO CLINIC to get you started:

Foods that are generally allowed on a low-fiber diet include:

White bread without nuts and seeds

White rice, plain white pasta, and crackers

Refined hot cereals, such as Cream of Wheat, or cold cereals with less than 1 gram of fiber per serving

Pancakes or waffles made from white refined flour

Most canned or well-cooked vegetables and fruits without skins or seeds

Fruit and vegetable juice with little or no pulp, fruit-flavored drinks, and flavored waters

Tender meat, poultry, fish, eggs and tofu

Milk and foods made from milk — such as yogurt, pudding, ice cream, cheeses and sour cream — if tolerated

Butter, margarine, oils and salad dressings without seeds

You should avoid:

Whole-wheat or whole-grain breads, cereals and pasta

Brown or wild rice and other whole grains, such as oats, kasha, barley and quinoa

Dried fruits and prune juice

Raw fruit, including those with seeds, skin or membranes, such as berries

Raw or undercooked vegetables, including corn

Dried beans, peas and lentils

Seeds and nuts and foods containing them, including peanut butter and other nut butters

Coconut

Popcorn

If you're eating a low-fiber diet, a typical menu might look like this.

Breakfast

1 glass milk, if tolerated

1 egg

1 slice of white toast with smooth jelly

1/2 cup canned peaches

Snack

1 cup of yogurt if tolerated, without seeds or nuts

Lunch

1 to 2 cups of chicken noodle soup

Crackers

Sandwich of drained tuna with mayonnaise on white bread

Canned applesauce

Flavored water or iced tea

Snack

White toast, bread or crackers

2 slices of cheese or 1/2 cup cottage cheese, if tolerated

Flavored water

Dinner

3 ounces lean meat, poultry or fish

1/2 cup white rice

1/2 cup cooked vegetables, such as carrots or green beans

White dinner roll with butter

Hot tea

Prepare all foods so that they're tender. Good cooking methods include simmering, poaching, stewing, steaming and braising. Baking or microwaving in a covered dish is another option.

Try to avoid roasting, broiling and grilling — methods that tend to make foods dry and tough. You may also want to avoid fried foods and spices.

Hi! I can't have fiber 3/4 of the time because of my pancreas. I live on - roasted white Yukon Gold or any white potato with evoo and sliced onions (if you can have onions), white pasta, omelets ( I have even made an omelet with leftover pasta with sauce ), organic Mott's Applesauce from Costco, A lot of fresh Fish, Tuna or Salmon burgers or a loaf. Take skinless, boneless chicken thighs, marinade overnight and then bake them at 400 for 45-50 minutes till crisp. Or, just use evoo and whatever seasonings you want and bake. Sometimes when I cook fish, I spread mustard all over, then make a mixture of parsley, dill, scallions, bread crumbs, lemon juice, evoo, lemon pepper and touch of garlic and bake. Try adding some dill when you have tuna. Also, go and buy either regular or salt free lemon pepper. Costco has it. It adds a great boost of flavor to anything. Costco also has a no salt all purpose seasoning. It's ok. I hope this helps. Feel better!

I was diagnosed with this also several years ago. I actually ended up in the hospital for 3 day because I didn't know I had it. Thought it was just a stomach bug. It's very painful. I was also told no fiber for a couples of weeks and the food choices do get boring. I ate pretty much what you described. I was told to slowly to introduce fiber back into my diet.

I was still getting flare ups on occasion not making the right food choices. It's under control now, no flare ups for about a year now. Avoid anything with seeds, even tiny ones like in strawberrys, nuts, foods high in fat, corn or anything that is hard for your stomach to digest. I still can't even tolerate lettuce or fruit even though I peel off the skin. No potatoes with the skin on.

My diet now consists mainly of chicken, white rice only with some kind of sauce, steak, fish, mashed potatoes, frozen butternut squash, I'm to lazy to peel a whole one, eggs, cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt, carrots but they have to be soft, cereal, tuna, white pasta with pizza sauce, no seeds in that or an alfredo sauce. It's hard to get greens into my diet but now I can tolerate brocolli if it is soft. I find it's hard to eat healthy with this condition. I have actually lost weight and I was not over weight to begin with.

Just accept boring now for a few weeks then slowly introduce new foods into your diet. It's trial and error. You will figure it out. I really hope you feel better soon. My doctor gave me a list of foods to eat and not eat. Maybe you could ask for a list also. It's not a fun condition to have.

@Coquille wrote:

NAME ALREADY TAKEN: I have pancreas divisum and have undergone multiple surgeries for my pancreatic issues and rarely eat salmon because I find it hard to digest even with the enzymes. I take about 8 on an averagte day but if I eat something salmon, I take up to 50.

I love cooking and my children and friends love eating so I make lots of goodies for them that I cannot eat. I get to smell it anyway. I have found salmon is so rich, it is hard to digest. I love it. Wish I could eat it everyday. I do eat it occasionally because it is worth a little suffering and more enzymes. Ha ha..
