They're usually in the produce section of most grocery stores. I would ask someone in the produce department if your local grocery. If you can't find them anywhere, they are super easy to grow yourself. We grew all kinds of sprouts when I was a kid.

http://www.thekitchn.com/how-to-grow-your-own-alfalfa-s-44854

I had fun growing them. My mom had a special sprouter set she bought in the 1970s. It was a set of glass jars in different sizes and with different mesh lids you used for various types of sprouts (alfalfa, mung bean sprouts, etc.) The cheesecloth is great for any jar, but you may want to get a sprout set if you decide you like growing your own. I liked checking the sprouts every day to see how much they had grown.

There were some articles at the end of February about potential ecoli and/or salmonella contamination in sprouts from two different producers although there wasn't a recall at the time of the article. That might be why you aren't finding any in the grocery stores right now. Even without a recall some stores may have voluntarily pulled them from the shelves.

Healtfood stores carry quite a bit as well, but I'll buy at the grocery store as well.

It's easy, if you fail it will likely be the seeds and not you. One thing I do is soak them over night with water and grapefruit seed extract. I also spray fruit wash (fit is what I have) on them and set a little before my final rinse.
