mm yum!!! Magic Bars. I bought the ingredients to make those during the holidays & never made them. There was so much junk around already that we could not eat all of. Maybe I will make them for my Birthday next weekend. I bought graham cracker crumbs & wondered what I bought them for. Now I know after reading this post. LOL!!!

When I make bar cookies, I always line the 9 x 18 with aluminum foil and leave about eight inches hanging over the ends. I grease the aluminum lining of the pan as if it weren't there. I make the cookies, then when cool, you just pick up the ends and lift onto a cutting board.

It will give you much nicer pieces.

You can do this for fudge too.

Hello Yummy Bars Jill Bauer
Jill's Note:
There are a lot of versions of Hello Dolly or Magic Bars…but this recipe is from my childhood bestie, Emily, and I think it takes top prize. The addition of toffee bits and the Teddy Graham crust make these enjoyable!

Ingredients:
3/4 cup butter, melted
1 box chocolate chip Teddy Graham cookies, finely crushed
1 bag English Toffee bits (in the baking section)
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped pecans or shredded coconut
1 can (14-oz) sweetened condensed milk
Preparation:
Preheat oven to 325°F.
Line a 9" x 13" pan with nonstick foil, allowing it to extend over the ends of the pan. Pour the melted butter into the pan. Sprinkle the cookie crumbs in the bottom of the pan and press firmly. Bake for 5 minutes.
Layer the toffee bits, chocolate, and pecans or shredded coconut over the crust in the pan, pressing each layer down firmly. Pour the condensed milk on top. Bake for 30 minutes, or until the edges are lightly browned. Cool on the counter and then put the pan in the refrigerator for a couple of hours before trying to remove the dessert from the pan.
Lift the foil out of the pan, turn the bars over, and use a serrated knife to cut them into squares.

Almond Joy Magic Cookie Bars
From: Jenn@eatcakefordinner

Cookie Crust:
1/2 c. unsalted butter, room temperature
3/4 c. light brown sugar, packed
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
1 c. all-purpose flour
1 c. chocolate graham cracker crumbs (not quite 9 full-sheet crackers)
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips

Layers:
3/4 c. mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 3/4 c. shredded sweetened coconut
1/2 c. sliced almonds
about 12 oz. sweetened condensed milk (not quite one can)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving a slight overhang for easy removal and spray with cooking spray; set aside. For the Crust: In a large bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar, using a hand mixer, until smooth and creamy. Add the vanilla and egg and mix until combined. Add the flour, graham cracker crumbs, baking powder and salt and mix until fully combined. Stir in the chocolate chips. Press graham cracker dough evenly into the bottom of your prepared baking pan. Bake for 5 minutes.

Remove from oven and sprinkle with the mini chocolate chips (reserving a small amount), coconut and sliced almonds. Drizzle the sweetened condensed milk over the top and sprinkle with reserved mini chocolate chips. Remember the pan is hot and return to the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes until set (I baked mine for about 26 minutes). Loosely tent the pan with aluminum foil halfway through baking time to prevent the coconut and almonds from browning and rotate the pan in the oven.

Allow to cool at room temperature for 30 minutes and then stick in the refrigerator to cool all the way through (the bottom of the pan will be cold). Cut into 9-12 squares. DO NOT cut the bars while they are still warm or the gooey filling will run all over the place.

Jenn's Notes: I cut mine into 9 bars, but since they are pretty rich, I think 12 bars would be perfect.

Last time I ate 1 of these bars was 2 yrs ago Christmas. Before that I had not ate one in a very long time. They are good but so sweet. They will go bad if I make a 13 x 9 pan of them.

So sorry ! Didn't see the request!

Here is the name of the cookbook-Desserts for Two by Chrisina Lane she was on QVC.

Her desserts are small but not really for 2. I love everything I have made.

I did NOT know that you could buy sweetened condensed milk in a pour container now,so you don't have to use a whole can.

4 graham crackers 1/2 cup crushed

2 Tablespoons butter

1 Tablespoon sugar

Bake 350 in a 9x5x3 loaf pan. Mix that together and press into pan. Bake 8 minutes.

1/3 Cup chopped pecans

1/4 Cup semi sweet choc chips

1/4 Cup milk chocolate chips

1/4 Cup packed sweetened shredded coconut

1/4 Cup butterscotch chips

1/2 Cup sweetened condensed milk.

Layer on crumbs and end with nuts and coconut and pour sweetened condensed milk.

Bake 18 minutes.

This is a bread pan size,I line it with parchment paper so they are removed in one piece and easier to cut.

Butterscotch chips are hard to find year round but they make a big differece so peanut butter also work.

I mix up the chips and don't use the full 1/4 cup of each to keep the calories down and they taste great.

ENJOY!

Sweetened Condensed milk now comes in a cream plastic container with a pour top!
