Have you ever gone away from home “for a spell,” and left behind a store house of prepared meals for your husband to heat and eat in your absence? The story is too long to tell here, but my husband is the one leaving and needs to take said store house with him. My challenge is to send him off with approximately 14 dinners, either frozen, canned or refrigerated, that he will be able to heat and eat.

This is the third time in eight-to-ten weeks I’ve had this task, and, frankly, I am running out of fresh ideas (if you’ve read my posts, you know I’m adverse to repeating myself ). So far, I’ve sent him off with frozen spaghetti sauce and meatballs, chili, the ‘fixins’ for huevos rancheros, a casserole, jambalaya, baked beans and wurst, etc. For the upcoming trip, I’ve downloaded the Pioneer Woman’s Chicken Spaghetti casserole and am planning to make him a pot of beef stew. But that’s all I’ve got!

Can you help me with ideas for him? He will eat just about anything, but it must be easy to transport, keep and prepare. Ziplock freezer bags work well for him as containers. He will have access to a microwave and a stove, but he’s not handy with either. Spoiled baby, don’tchaknow.

TIA! –Mrs. G.
