I've not made sangria myself and like you I'm not a real wine drinker either. If I do, I choose white that's on the sweeter side instead of dry.

I've thoght about making sangria too and I think it would be easy. I also bet that if you googled a few recipe sites you'll find some recipes for sangria. I'm also betting for sure you'd find one on 'thechew.com'. I watch them all the time and I think I recall Clinton Kelly making sangria, and I bet Mario has a sangria online too.

If I were to make one I'd use white wine and toss in a few great fruits like peaches, pears, white grapes, kiwi would work too.

Sangria is my favorite type of wine. There are actually some good ones you can buy right in the grocery store for around $6.00 - $7.00 a bottle. Two that come to mind (I can't access my stash right now), are Madria Sangria and Red Guitar, but there are others. You can also add more fruit if you wish. (This is making me thirsty!)

I make sangria all the time. My favorite is always what they serve in Spanish and Portuguese restaurants. This is the closest recipe I've found to that and my new favorite easy one.

Restaurant Style Sangria

Freeze 2 cups grapes and 12 oz. blackberries and raspberries

750 ml dry red wine

1 cup orange juice

1/2 cup tequila

1/4 cup triple sec

3 TBSP superfine sugar

1 orange, sliced

Chill at least one hour. Add frozen fruit right before serving.

You don't taste the tequila, but you feel it when you try to stand up! Drink at your own risk lol

This sangria is perfect for the fall!

Apple Pie Sangria

1 bottle Moscato***
6 oz apple cider (I used Trader Joe's Spiced Cider)
6 oz Caramel Vodka
1 apple, sliced
1 pear, sliced

2 cinnamon sticks

1 bottle club
soda

Combine first 5 ingredients (Moscato - Pear) and let sit overnight in a
pitcher, adding cinnamon sticks about 4 hours before serving. Pour into
individual glasses with ice and cover with a splash of club soda.

***or use a white table wine, riesling, etc. or if you want to make it less sweet, use
something like a pinot grigio of sauvignon blanc...or do one bottle of sweet and
one bottle of dry if doubling the recipe)

t

This sangria is wonderful; it was originally posted by lavendarsage who no longer posts here but I do believe she lurks and pops up every now and then! It is made with white zinfandel and even though I believe it is classified as a rose' and not a true white wine, I believe white wine drinkers as well as red wine drinkers will enjoy it.

WHITE ZINFANDEL SANGRIA

Use whatever fresh fruit you have on hand (strawberries, pineapple, mangoes, blackberries, chopped green apple, etc.), just make sure to include at least 1 citrus fruit in the mix.

1 (750 ml) bottle chilled White Zinfandel
1/2 c. peach schnapps
2 Tbsp. Cointreau, Grand Marnier or other orange liqueur
2 Tbsp. sugar, or to taste
2 cinnamon sticks, broken in half
1 lemon, sliced
1 orange, sliced
1 peach, sliced into wedges
1 (10 oz.) bottle chilled club soda (1 1/4 c.)
Ice cubes

Mix first 8 ingredients in a tall pitcher. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to blend.

Mix in club soda.

Fill 6 wine glasses with ice cubes. Pour sangria over ice. Serve.

Lavendar often took beautiful photos of her recipes and this one she posted as using orange slices, strawberries, and I believe peaches.

This is also a very good sangria-we make it often for get togethers.

Topsy Turvy Sangria

1 bottle of merlot

1 cup of sugar

1 cup of orange liqueur

1/2 - 1 cup of brandy

3 cups chilled lemon lime soda, chilled

1 cups sliced fresh strawberries

1 lemon thinly sliced

1 orange thinly sliced

1 peach, sliced

ice

Stir all together except for soda, until sugar is dissolved. Add fruit and refrigerate over night. Before serving, add chilled soda. Makes 10 - 3/4 cup servings.

Way back in the seventies. It is better to make a sugar syrup. There is some sweetness but you don't have to wait for the sugar to dissolve.
