Many years ago my brother came up with a recipe to use up some ground venison we had at home. I think it has been around the internet several times but I thought I'd post it here. It is great with ground round too. Any LEAN ground meat actually.

1LB meat - browned

1can golden mushroom soup

2 cans cream of mushroom soup

1c water or beef broth

1 potato for each person you want to serve. You can add potatoes to really stretch this recipe. Peel & Chop the potatoes.

1 carrot for each person - peel and chop

salt, pepper and garlic salt. If you use water instead of broth add worchestershire sauce to taste.

Add all wet ingredients to crock pot and stir to combine then add all the rest. Cook on low 12 hr or high 6.

You can add frozen peas at the end but don't cook too long or they get mushy. You can also add a can of mushrooms if you like them.

Thank you for sharing this recipe. I have enjoyed many varieties of hunter stew, and love both the simplicity and versatility with these recipes. Most of the stews my family makes with our venison, is from roasts that we either cook and shred, or we have cut into chunks. My family does not eat mushrooms, so we use cream of celery or cream of chicken soup. We also use jars of Heinz brown gravy with the soup, and or tomato soup with the brown gravy, along with a can of diced tomatoes. Onions is an absolute must in our venison stew recipes, and we do low and slow in the oven instead of using a crock pot.

I never liked the taste of venison, elk yes, venison no, so I was always looking for recipes that would disguise the taste. I think this one would so that. Sounds good but fortunate I have no further supply of meat.
