Clean and trim from grocery store, save tops in freezer for soup. Cut celery stalk in half, fill large "wonton" soup container with water and put celery in the water. I change the water every other day. Last batch lasted me 6 weeks. Fresh, green, crisp.

I put the celery in the crisper but it doesn't last very long. I have tried wrapping it in paper towels. Every few days I have to take a few stalks off and throw them out.

I keep it in the plastic bag it comes in, in my crisper drawer when it fits, or just on a fridge shelf, if it's too long for the drawer...either way, it stays fresh for weeks, until it's gone.

No damp paper towels, not nothing added to it.

I always liked to have already-cleaned celery sticks ready for me to snack on during the day. I would prepare the whole bunch and then store in a L&L container.

When I get home from the store, I cut the tops and bottom of the celery bunch and remove all the leaves (Iput those in the freezer to save for when I make chicken stock).

I take a Lock and Lock with a drainer tray, put a paper towel under the tray and place the clelery in. Then I put another paper towel on top of the celery before closing the lid. My celery can last 3 weeks in perfect condition. I keep it on a regular refrigerator shelf.

I have many Lock and Lock's with these trays/inserts and I will store a lot of my veggies prepped that way: carrots, broccoli, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, green beans and even berries. Works very well.

And when I open the container to take some out, I always wipe off any moisture on the inside of the lid. This is an important step, as food is so expensive these days, I hate to let things spoil or go to waste.

I clean and trim it when I get home from store. Then I wrap in aluminum foil as others have mentioned...works well. Smaller pieces I also keep in Lock 'n Lock.

On another subject ....lettuce....I follow same method as posted for celery here by @retiredatlast about paper towel under celery and on top. I do that with lettuce and it keeps very well.
