wacky cake this week----

Nothing new about me making a wacky cake or crazy cake. It's my go- to when needing a cake---It has no milk/butter or eggs. Some call it a depression cake too. The recipe I used this time added baking powder to the ingredients--my original one did not--just baking soda and vinegar. I've been baking this recipe for prob 40 years now--my Gram/aunt used to bake it. BUT....... I had soooo many ripe bananas this week---so decided to make a couple banana wacky cakes--and what a fantastic cake it turned out to be. First it looks beautiful--- I added choc chips and walnuts to the top before baking. Am taking one to friends tonight--having game night. Should be a winner!!

I have not made Wacky cake in years. It was the first cake I ever made-- at age 12. I will be 78 tomorrow! Thanks for reminding me of it. Adding bananas sounds like a yummy addition.

@Mom2Dogs ---the recipe from my Gram was for a chocolate one, but yes, you can add just about anything---I have made one with pumpkin before. Google wacky/crazy cake recipes--tons will pop up

I noticed they removed recipe. However, I just googled WACKY CAKE AND A RECIPE CAME UP. IT WAS CHOCOLATE. all recipes has many. Basically it is flour, oil, b powder, b soda, cocoa, flour, sugar. I made this a lot in the 60's. It is an easy, moist, dense, delicious cake.

@shoekitty --that's the one I use---when my kids were little, I would make one choc one and then leave out the cocoa powder for a white cake and then swirl both together to make a marble cake for their b-days and instead of the water, you can add milk --makes it a little richer. But this recipe ALWAYS turns out great!!!
