Hi, house cat, I had been away from Recipe Swap for quite a while and was browsing through all the pages of entries I had missed. When I saw the discussion titles regarding QVC Virtual Cookbook, I totally misunderstood what they were about -- I thought it was something QVC itself was sponsoring somewhere other than in Recipe Swap. I didn't start reading the posts themselves until late last night, and then I was looking for a link so I could go and check out QVC's new Virtual Cookbook. I happened to start with the most recent -- longest -- thread. It was late, and I was tired, and I was totally confused by the comments I was reading.

It was a little while before I realized exactly what your threads had really been about, and I'm so sorry you ran into such a mini-firestorm. I think what you were trying to do is a really good idea -- organizing shared recipes by category -- and I checked out the other Virtual threads you had started.

I'm sorry you didn't get the support your idea deserved. When I was new to this forum, I found the Recipe Swap folks to be really warm and welcoming to new posters and generous with sharing recipes and answering newbie questions . For some reason, though, they don't welcome new "types" of threads. The "Exchange Game" and "Thyme" threads have been going on a long time, and when I first joined there was a long-time thread called "Chit Chat and Dessert" which seems to have disappeared.

The holiday-themed threads like Menus, Appetizers, or Candy seem to find enthusiastic contributors in season, but other attempts just languish and I've never understood why.

Anyhow, I just wanted to thank you for trying out a new idea, and I'm sorry to see it being left to -- as you said -- fizzle. (Sorry you took some arrows in your pioneering back, too!) I was glad to see you still intend to keep visiting Recipe Swap.

Best Regards, Honeybit

Thanks for the feedback, HoneyBit. The "virtual" threads seemed like a good idea the night I introduced them, but turns out they simply aren't necessary here. There are, of course, many excellent recipes posted on them already and I thank those who contributed. There is no shortage of excellent recipes on this forum, which is why I will continue to come back to it despite a couple of cranky members.

I have found most everyone here to be welcoming, supportive and accepting of those few clonkers I post from time to time. This forum is the very first place I come to for cooking and kitchen related advice. I hope we'll see you here more often.
