Right now it's baking in the oven and does the house smell wonderful.

@Kachina624 I got called away as soon as I posted the OP, so here's the recipe. It's from an America's Test Kitchen Episode Season 14

Almond Granola with Dried Fruit

1/3 cup maple syrup

1/3 cup packed light brown sugar

4 teasp vanilla extract

1/2 teasp salt

1/2 cup veg oil

5 cups old fashioned oats ( not instant) I use whatever I have

2 cups almonds, chopped coarse (again, whatever I have -- I use sliced almonds)

2 cups raisins or other dried fruit, chopped

1. Adjust oven rack to upper middle position and heat to 325 degrees. Line rimmed baking sheet (12.5x17.5) with parchment paper or foil.

2. Whisk maple syrup, brown sugar, vanilla and salt in large bown. Whisk in oil. Fold in oats and almonds until throughly coated.

3. Transfer oat mixture to baking sheet and spread across sheet to thin, even layer. Using stiff metal spatula, compress oat mixture until very compact. Bake until lightly browned, 40-to 45 minutes, rotating pan once halfway through baking Remove granola from oven and cool on wire rack to room temp about 1 hour. Break cooled granola into pieces of desired size. Stir in dried fruit. Store in airtight container and will keep for about 2 weeks.

Makes about 9 cups

That is why I started making it for my five children. It is very easy to make.

I like making my own, then you can customize what you put in it. I personally don't like nuts in it. It is not a snack for me, I like it for breakfast, as a cereal. I have 1/2 cup with milk.
