I have tasted it. My mother always put salt on watermelon and black pepper on cantaloupe.

I prefer mine naked though. I don't really like salt on anything.

I always think of my Grandma, she would let me put sugar on tomato's and watermelon to get me to eat them as a kid because I was copying her putting salt on hers. Yes, now I put salt on both.

When I was a kid that is the only way we ate watermelon. And we also put salt on cantaloupe too. Must have gotten that from my Mom. She was a big watermelon and cantaloupe eater whenever they were in season.

I salt food when I cook, but the only food on my plate that gets salted are tomatoes, cucumbers, cantaloupe and watermelon. My Dr has suggested I eat a bit more salt.

We put salt on watermelon during my childhood. For some reason I started eating it plain after we married. Maybe my husband did not like it.

Salt is good on grapefruit, too. I have had people scoff at the idea. When they tried it, they liked it.

Putting salt on watermelon was more common when I was young. I also used to put salt on apples. I don't like either now but the apples and salt were better than the watermelon and salt I thought.

Never put anything on cantaloupe. Interesting fact.

When I lived in Arkansas, they ate salt on green strawberries! Pretty good.

I like salt on watermelon that isn't as ripe as I prefer.

Great on green oranges!

I love it either way! It improves one if it is a little less than fabulous, but the best of the best just need a knife or a fork! That's all! And ME!!!!

Ever see a horse eat a watermelon? Now that is my definition of a party! Oh my what a mess.

i was raised eating salt on all melons and tomatoes. On melons the more salt the better they taste.

I always had salt on fruit growing up...watermelon, peaches, oranges, apples, nectarines, tangerines but I only do it now when fruit has a dry mealy texture.

When we had the koi pond I used to feed the fish watermelon. When they heard me open the door they would line up at the end of the pond wiggling and carrying on to hope they got theirs first! (without salt!)

Not sure I ever put it on watermelon as I haven't had it in a long time. I have, though, put it on cantaloupe and also on apples.
