I frequently cook meat in consomme because I just like the flavor. In desperation for a quick gravy a few weeks ago I blended Cream of Chicken soup to the consomme in the pan. I thought it was the best gravy I've ever made and DH liked it, too. I stick with Campbell's because my uncle used to work fo them.

A good, easy gravy would be ideal.

The gravy I've been making comes out of a bulk sized bag from an Amish country store. I got the chicken and pork varieties. Didn't bother to read the contents because I'm sure it's not health food. I generally make just a cup of gravy so our potatoes aren't drowning in it.

We were on a ride in the country looking for an Amish bakery, and we came across a general store that sells food in bulk. It was dimly lit, but I found a few interesting items, so I bought taco seasoning, chili powder and gravy mixes.

Yes, I do the mushroom soup-consomme combo also, I've done that for years and just happened to try the cream of chicken. I have a Finnish cookbook since I'm part Finnish, and those ladies are hooked on mushroom soup.

@depglass Thanks! I was looking around here for some ideas for supper and this gave me a great one. I have some leftover gravy from some chicken I cooked yesterday. I will combine with cream of chicken and have hamburger steaks with mushrooms & onions, grits for the gravy, and a salad. Sounds delish. Thanks, again.
