I learned how to make bread from my grandmother and I made it using her recipe for years. I bake quite often and do not use a bread maker. I bought one and used it once and then gave it away. I just didn't like the texture of the bread. There are a lot of recipes for bread at the king arthur flour website. I only use KAF for baking.

Hi ladies, I have a funny tid bit about my day of "trying" LOL to bake bread. I felt like I love lucy. A few years back I purchased a bread baking machine. I wanted so hard to have a fresh baked loaf of bread on the table for supper that night. I put all of the ingredients in the machine and waited. I left the room to do other things. Now the house had a delightful aroma of fresh baked bread. The table was set for my husband and son and all that was left to do was wait for the bread. I waited and waited and decided maybe I had better add more yeast. Yep you guessed it the bread had a bubble top as big as a balloon. The center was almost hollow. My husband said that was my I love lucy moment and I agree. I gave away the bread machine and never tried again. I want to do it but I'm "afraid" of the outcome. hahaha Maybe I should try again.
<LI-SPOILER> </LI-SPOILER>

i think that you should try again but not with the bread machine. dough takes very little yeast. and it is all in the feel of the dough. if that makes any sense.

I used to bake Artisan type breads and sell them at the local Farmers Market, one loaf isn't a lot of work, but try baking 25 loaves in one day for market the next day.

Here you go everyone, have fun. She is a great teacher, I think he is really into bread! One little tip get the flour for bread making. I like Bobs red Mill artisan flour. However you dont have to, you can use regular flour. I like the fast yeast and the flour depends on what I have available.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWsY8IaoAV8&list=PLGq4VXIkGNlDX09QIpF2sbMZ1v8h2crF0
