does your local newspaper

still have a food or recipe section. my local paper used to do so but with the demise of newspapers, they have cut way back

i used to get some of my best recipes from them. in fact, when itraveled, i would buy a local paper just to get the recipes from the area

I haven’t subscribed to the paper in so many years. I cook so little but I have a few favorites on index cards.

These days any recipe can be found on line.

We live in a small town, and our local paper doesn’t have a food section. But we live close to a large city, and we subscribe to that one, too. DH loves Food Section day. He’s made several dishes over the years from those recipes. I enjoy reading it.

Both our papers have a Cookie section in December. I’ve gotten some great recipes from those.

@shortbreadloverYes, I subscribe to The Washington Post and they do have a special food section each Wednesday.

I really look forward to getting it each Wednesday morning.

The local newspapers in my neck of the woods, the "food" section is stand-alone & only included in the Sunday editions.

Yes, they do about four recipes on a single topic (salsa, pumpkin, tailgating.....).

Our citywide paper doesn't anymore, but our smaller community paper does. I only get the paper on Sunday, and if I don't read it, I use it for other things.

Yes, both papers we get have a food section. The Philadelphia Inquirer on Sunday and Wednesday. And the Bucks County Courier the food section, I think is Wednesday.

In fact one of my favorite recipes was from the newspaper. I made it for the people at work one time. Everyone liked it and wanted the recipe. So I made copies and somehow lost the recipe. So I never made it again.

Our local paper still has a food section, but it's miniscule compared to what it was years ago. The section now consists of a column by the food editor of upcoming events, an article by her with a couple of recipes and a couple of syndicated articles. It's two or three pages long. Years ago, there would be a whole section devoted to spooky food for Halloween and cookies for Christmas. They are both memories now. I know the food editor and she said it's shrunk for two reasons: cost of printing a newspaper and people don't cook much anymore and aren't interested in a food section. I think it's only a matter of time until the food section disappears completely.

so many papers are going under these days. i know that the oregonian used to have a great food section as did the salt lake tribune. it is sad too that people just don't read the paper

The big metro Atlanta newspaper carries a reasonable amount of food and recipe info, but much of it comes from and is credited to the Washington Post (the Wash DC metro newspaper, which has a good food editorial staff)

I think some is sourced from the New York Times, too, but I need to pay more attention to my newspaper to make sure that is true.

Food is covered in original reporting by the Atlanta-area newspaper mainly when it pertains to critiquing specific restaurants. This area is supposedly one of the most-eating-out places on the planet.

And since moving here from the DC area, I might have to agree. The restaurants here are busy all the time, and we have a bazillion choices of places to go when you're hungry.

I wouldn't know, I haven't read a local paper in more years than I can count. There's just no point to it now.

My husband buys the local newspaper daily, it's a thing with him and yes there are recipes. I have cut a few out of the paper a few times, but I seldom make the recipe.
