Stoffer's Seasoning Wraps

I know I have read posts about Stoffer's Seasoning Wraps before, but I wanted to share a couple of different ways I have used them recently. They are advertised for using on chicken - and they are great. You wrap the meat in a folded piece of paper and cook it on each side for 10 mintues. There is no oil or anything put into the frying pan, just the paper covered meat. The papers are coated with various herbs and spices. Each wrap only adds 25 calories to the meat - which was a nice bonus. When you remove them from the pan, there is hardly any clean up. Maybe a wipe or two to get rid of some crumbs. The meat is flavored wonderfully and brown on both sides.

I got to thinking if they worked so well on chicken, it seemed like they would work with other meats also. A few weeks ago, I had 2 thick boneless pork chops defrosting. I thought of the Seasoning Wraps. I cut the chops in half to make 4 thinner pieces of meat. I cooked them the same way I did the chicken, and they were great also.

Yesterday I went a step further and decided to try the Lemon Pepper flavored wraps on some salmon filets. Again, it worked perfectly. The salmon was cooked well, browned and flavored nicely.

I feel like I have discovered such an easy, flavorful way to cook meats that I had never known existed. It is so much simpler than most other methods. My store only has 3 flavors available, but I think there are more. I am stocking up with these when shopping to have on hand when I want a quick meal.

I have a question ...do these wraps give the meat a strong garlic or onion flavor??? I cannot eat garlic/onion...makes me nauseous. Several places sell them -- Wal Mart, Amazon etc. I have been interested in the wraps, but....

I would not say any of the flavors I have tried are strong at all. To me they give a mild flavor to the meat. I think the fact that the meat browns is what gives it flavor also. You could check the ingredients on the back of the packages to see what is in the wraps. Some list garlic or onion powder, but they are listed pretty far down on the lists so it is not very obvious or overpowering to me.

Thanks for the tips - I just bought some. Probably won't use them too frequently due to the sodium content but they seem a great way to get a quick dinner on the table.

@rolen Question for you. I bought the Italian Herb and the Roasted Garlic & Lemon. I used 2 of the Italian Herb then it says to put the remaining sheets in a sealed plastic bag and use within 14 days. Would you use them beyond the 14 days? I have had them opened longer than that maybe 21 days. Would it hurt to try them?

If you used one on salmon, do you think the garlic & lemon would be good on haddock?

You are now my go to on the wraps, hope you don't mind.

When reading the ingredients, I do note that there are some oils. I assume the oils are what makes the meat brown. I don't imagine the herbs and spices could 'go bad' but I guess there might be an amount of time that the oils could turn bad. I personally would try it after 21 days, but that is just me.

I think garlic and lemon would be pretty good with any fish. I used the Lemon Pepper wraps on salmon because when I previously prepared salmon I used a lemon/pepper/garlic marinade before cooking. After eating the salmon, my husband suggested trying the wraps on all different kinds of fish.

In my supermarket, they are in the Spice aisle. They were on a top shelf and I also had to look for them carefully before finding them.

I never heard of these but they sound great. According to their website they aren't available in my area, but I suppose I could check. Otherwise I guess it's Amazon (they have a 4 pack, 1 of each flavor). They sound perfect for my needs, as long as they taste good. I also suspect they would last longer then 14 days - I know I'd never use them up that fast.

Do these wraps melt and become part of the chicken? or do you peel them off after cooking ? They don't explain on the commercial.

They come off and you discard the paper. I have these and like them alot, but don't have your heat turned too high or they will burn. Learned the hard way. Electric stove had heat on 4.

@Kachina624 I have never used them, but went on Amazon's site and pulled them up. On the back it says to use w/in 14 days and not to refrigerate. Also do not use microwave, oven or grill. I'm going to look for them next time I get groceries.

They are difficult to find in the store. At Publix, they were on the top shelf with Fish seasonings and other types of seasoning. Not exactly "with the spices" but same isle.

Thanks for answer!! I think I saw one that was garlic/lemon....will stay away from that one!! Also sodium content seems high....still may try them out!!
