Is It Cold By You??

It's in the high 30's this AM!! The sun is out and for me its too cold to do anything outdoors for now.

When will the weather jump back into the 50's again??

I bought an azalea yesterday at Home Depot in complete bloom-- a 'Hinocrimson' red flowering cultivar. I need a new one because an older one that is in the shade of my Kwanzan cherry tree in my front landscape did not really bounce back from the English hollies that grew up to it!! Hollies got removed about 3 years ago and I expected the back end to fill in-- it did not.

The new one is a nice little mound and I need to get outside and dig out the old one and transplant the new one. Maybe this week the weather will warm up (I hope).

It's cold here as well lately. It's more like winter than some days in February were this year! It's expected to warm up later in the week. Usually by this time in April we've had our first 70+-degree day. Not this year! I wanted to do some yard work this weekend, but it's just too cold. Good luck with your new azalea!

Yes!! 21 wind chill I wanted to go to some garden centers today. Instead I'm laying in bed catching up on DVDed tv shows.

It's 35 out, but it feels colder. Very windy with gray skies. We're supposed to get rain this afternoon. Still have a little snow on the ground.

It wouldn't feel so cold here in Indiana if it weren't for those dang winds! Where do they come from? Seems like every day is windy here. I have a feeling we are going to jump from the 50s to the 80s again this year. They are predicting higher than normal temps in Indiana by May. I would like a more gradual climb to the warm weather - how about some 60s and 70s for a change?

It's 73 and Sunny today just gorgeous. I have been doing yard work for at least 3 weeks. Hosta's are coming up and azaleas have bloomed. Dogwoods have bloomed, Magnolia trees have all bloomed and leafed out. Japanese maples have leafed out and my Snowball Vibernum tree is just gorgeous with all the white snowballs. I guess this is just my favorite plant of all time. It's just wonderful to wake up and take a walk around my flowers and soak it all in. I will be planting my vegetable garden very soon. I love this time of the year.

Years ago as I walked my Westie on Long Island, I often told him, winter was almost over! For some, April 15 is tax day - for me it was almost always the first day I could spot buds on the huge maple trees in my front yard. Yes, maybe there had been a warmish day prior to that, and yes. some years the peas had been planted in the back garden, but for me it was still winter.

And now - I'm in southern Florida where today is just gorgeous! It's sunny and crisp and the locals are complaining it's too cold with the morning in the low 60's and mid-day to be "only" 75ish. I love the cool before the onslaught of every day with heat and humidity.

It's great here. Breezy, dark clouds, supposed to rain with a high of about 68. Enjoy it while we can.

Yes, it's cold here, had to wear my down coat out today. We're in the mid 30's. But this is MI, so so be it, we'll appreciate spring and summer when they get here, if and when they do.

It has been unusually warm here for this time of year. High 70's the past few days. Today it is overcast and cooler. I have plants all over my patio waiting to get planted (eunomyous, boxwood, bergenia, summer daphne). Have to wait to get some help next week digging out a large snowball plant and moving some big pots up hill in the flowerbeds then I can start digging those holes. I was also waiting for the peonies and lilies to pop up so I could be sure where they were. Planted a Mexican orange yesterday. The rhododendrons in front yard are all starting to bloom. No rain predicted until next Wednesday. I am across Lake Washington from Seattle.

It's almost 80° & windy. We have had winds 25-30 mph with gusts of to 50 mph for the past month. I'm sick of the knock your head of wind. Supposed to get up to 90° today. Storms with large hail & tornadoes are in the forecast for tonight. After this front moves in only suppose to be about 60° tomorrow with lows in the 30°'s.

Hurray! The weather cooperated and its sunny and in the mid 40's with a slight breeze every now and then. I was able to dig out the dying azalea and transplanted the new one into its place.

I am in upstate NY and right now it's 40 degrees. After a very mild March for the most part April has been much more Winter like. But it's supposed to warm up by mid week.

@JustJazzmom Et al, I am in Nova Scotia. We had snowfall last night. I spent yesterday afternoon cutting down my small grasses and picking up downed twigs in the yard. I got up to this...in the a.m...

As mentioned by some, April has been worse than March. Most of the snow is gone but STILL, it is the middle of April. COME ON NOW!!! LM

Glad to read I'm not alone. Here in the heart of American, we've had overnight frosts and several cold days with winds 30-50mph. I could dress for the cold, but much too windy to work in the garden. I tried raking one day.... big mistake. At least we aren't having the snow storms like folks are west and north of us. My big maple tree leafed out then froze and all the new leaves fell off. Hostas look doomed, but should bounce back. Creeping phlox are blooming -- that's good, right?

There's always next year................(I think I say that every spring)

In the low 40's yesterday in West Michigan but supposed to be in low 70's by Saturday. I am so tired of having to wear earmuffs when doing outdoor cardio (yesterday was very windy w/wind coming from the northwest). I always check the weather app before I head out so I know how to dress).

Yup, here in upper MI its still cold, but not for long. I'm hoping yesterday was our last snow (flurries) till next Winter. Supposed to be near 70's by this weekend. Yippee!!

Here in southern Mo it will hit the upper 60's today and 80 by the weekend. It's been a crazy month so far, warm one day and cool for a week. I'm ready to put away the sweaters and get out the flip flops and shorts.

It was in the 80's yesterday and predicted to be in the low 80's today and tomorrow. Can't believe it is this warm in the PNW in April. Does not bode well for summer!
