When do the Hummingbird feeders go out?

I'm in SE PA, and put mine out around May 1. My mother, in Western NY, puts hers out around Mother's Day. So, I'd say anytime thereabouts would be good.

I'm in Southern CT and put my feeders out in May. And the hummers are here until sometime in Oct.

I live in NJ and I put mine out the second week in April. They usually show up around the third week in April and I like to be ready!
They do come back to the same area each year.

That's true. They'll let you know it if they get back and your feeder isn't up yet. I've had them get right in my face as if to say "what's wrong with you? get with the program!"

My feeders are up all year round as I have the little humming-pigs year round!!! Have been re filling at least 2x a week. Have 2 during the winter that stay around and maybe 5 during this time of year and beyond. I am in western WA state.

That's a lot of work - to be cleaning and re-filling feeders year-round. I'm happy with five months, May to September.

I am in SW GA near Tallahassee,FL . The migration 2016 chart shows a lot of hummers in this area. These are folks that are recording sitings, a lot of folks see hummers but do not record. SO...I am putting my feeders out THIS weekend just in case a few come through. I do clean and change out the sugar water in the feeders at least once a week, sometimes twice. CAT

Same here, wagirl. The anna species stays with us year round. When it freezes, I bring the feeders in at night and then put them out in the morning. These little angels are so precious, it does my heart good to feed them all year. <3

I just put my two feeders out last Saturday/March 19 and saw my first hummingbird this season on Thursday/March 24! The hummingbird migration chart shows where they are.

I am in th SW GA area about an hour North of Tallahassee,FL and on hummer watch! CAT

Now I am filling the feeder every other day!! Such little piggies!! They are fighting and doing the most amazing air-robics ever!! I agree, no big deal to tend to them year round!! I don't have many--maybe 4 or 5 and sometimes 3 of them eat at the same time. Love them!!!

I always put my feeders out in mid-April. Sometimes I see my first one the 3rd week in April; sometimes not until May. But I'm always ready.

Wow. Year-round? I'd love to see them, but would get tired of cleaning and filling my feeders. We only get ruby-throats here in middle America.

I'm in SC and leave my feeder up all year. As it gets chilly here in January/February, hubby rigged up a low heat flood outside on a pole by the feeder. It stays on all night and keeps the food from freezing. We have also spotted these adorable creatures sitting by the light warming up!

I am in Northern Virginia and plan setting up my hummingbird feeder for middle to late April. My wake-up is when my Kwanzan Flowering Cherry tree is in bloom. I figure the hummingbirds need flowering nectar to survive. We have the ruby-throat hummingbirds here in the mid-atlantic region.

I have an old Hummzinger feeder and make my own nectar. Mix 1/2 cup hot water to 2 Tablespoons of sugar and stir until dissolved. I put small batches out since it gets moldy so fast in hot weather.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience. We moved to Portland 2.5 years ago, so needed this advice. After reading your response, we got our feeder up yesterday afternoon. It's going to be 74 here today, so hope for birds soon.
