I just learned that rabbits don't hibernate. During the winter they develop a thick fur and eat tree bark and twigs. We had a rabbit and her little rabbits during the summer but I don't see them anymore.

@chessygal The rabbits in my neck of the woods, stay inside burrows all winter. Only come out to eat or take the food back inside their burrows.

My rabbits are out nights & under backyard sheds. From snow tracks...."somebody" tried to nibble on the porch fake bush in a pot.

Deer have visited in the past too.

I have a rather large rabbit who comes out late at night in all kinds of weather.

If I stand very still he won't run away but if I say hi he will run as fast as he can,

so I've learned not to say anything.

Once there was a whole crew of them running across the yard. There must have been at least 10! It was like something out of a movie. I've never seen that again.

(and I wasn't seeing things:womanlol!

We have rabbits here every night. When I let the dogs out when it's dark, first I scope out the yard to see if they are there. I don't want them catching them.

In my area of the country. you can follow rabbit trails in the snow all winter . If you ski slow enough , you can see rabbitts jumping around in deep snow out west on the slopes

There's been a family of bunnies living under our deck since we moved here 20 years ago. We see them out all winter, making paths in the snow. We buy rabbit food at PetsMart and put it out in bowls for them. We love having them around and they're kind of used to us.

I'm isouth of Charlotte NC, in the country. We had 2 rabbits that I would catch on the outdoor camera eating grass in the yard. Once the camera caught them in a mating dance.

Haven't seen them in quite a while. My neighbor has been feeding a feral cat so I wonder if that has to do w/the fact that they are missing. My other neighbor absolutely hates the rabbits.....says they do damage to her property.

I know we have rabbits because they leave their *calling cards on the driveway strips. They'll be these little pyramid shaped stacks, reminds me of how they used to stack cannonballs during the Revolutionary war.

I had rabbits all last Summer, they would hop right through my garden and never offered to bother it, but they sure ate the birdseed from the little piles I put around for the birds! 😂

Love this picture. We have rabbits in the summer but I never see them in the winter...

I have bunnies all year. I've had them nest on my lawn

They dig a deep hole and have had several bunnies born. Unfortunately it's not a safe place...my lab kept picking up the babies out of hole...but I put them back.

Haven't seen a nest on the lawn lately but lots of poop all over my entire 5 areas. I love seeing them here.

My bunnies definitely are not hibernating. They're eating my dormant rose bush canes all the way down to the ground, thorns and all. Probably a meal of last resort because the ground here by Lake Erie has been covered in snow and ice since mid November. Deer and rabbits eating anything and everything.

I make a fruit salad just about every night. So I put slices of apples, pears and grapes out for the rabbit that appears in our backyard. We used to have Mom and one baby but now I only see one rabbit.

I like to see the rabbit tracks in the snow. So I know the rabbit is still around. Or should I say the rabbit had been around.A few days ago I saw larger paw prints in the yard. I wonder if it is a fox.

Still put fruit out, I hope the rabbit is the one eating it.
