🍐 PLENTY OF PEARS 🍐

I can't remember when there's been so many pears as this year. In fact, we've had to stake up the branches around each tree so they wouldn't break. Even with all the squirrels and deer have eaten, there's plenty left for us.

During a Gourmet Holiday show, I saw a pear jam being offered that looked delicious. I've never made this before, only pear butter. However, I may give it a try this year if all goes well after my surgery.😃❤️

I'm having to crop the branches and tree considerably in order to post.

I am so amazed at your garden!! Can I ask where you live and how big a garden you have?? General info of course or none at all if that is too personal ---but you must have two hands and feet full of green thumbs!! I enjoy all your photos and yes please--pear jam sounds delicious! Are those bartlett pears?

Thank you so much for saying so. I couldn't do anything without my dad though. He's really got the green thumbs lol. I'm thankful to have learned what I have from him.😃❤️

I live in Southeast Kentucky, just over the Tennessee border. We've always had a lot of fruit trees, berries and grapes on the property. The vegetable garden areas are smaller than in previous years though. It takes A LOT of work, starting in March tilling the ground etc.

Yes, I think they are Bartlett pears.

Sometimes I wish we had a vegetable garden but I just don't have the right space in our backyard since it;s very shady.

Plus I can remember just how much work it is to keep things weeded, etc. We used to have a large garden when we lived in our first house in NJ.

I was gonna post about it later today. I'm finally having my upper dental implants this Tuesday. I'm excited because I've waited so long, but I'm scared too. I just hope it's not too painful.

@cheriere I am impressed.

Pears were the favorite fruit for my son. When he was a little guy I would cook pears for him and freeze or can them.

I bet pear jam will taste delicious.

Hope your surgery goes well and you get to make lots of goodies with the pears.

You will be able to enjoy them all through the year.

Kids always seem to live pears.❤️. We usually can some pears too, but I'm not sure what we're gonna do this year. I took a picture of the tv screen during Gourmet Holiday when they showed how chunky the pear jam was. It looks so good. I hope I can find a good, easy recipe for it.😃

Hi there. When you talk about weeding your veggie garden, I thought I would tell you that one house I lived in, I had a small veggie garden (about 10x12 approx). I would get a piece of black plastic that covered my garden and cut X's to plant my veggies. Never had to weed it.

Just looked up recipes for pear jam. Found one by the USA Pear 0rg. I have not tried it but I bet they know their pears.

Bet it couldn't hurt to make a batch or half a batch and see if you like it. Sounds simple, pears. sugar and lemon juice.

If you make it, I would be interested in what you think. I am so tempted to can some pear jam. Always made strawberry jam, never thought to try pear jam.
