@Desertdi No, they are just outside for the season. What I do is in the fall (late Oct. or Nov. - depending on the weather), I dig up all the bulbs. I keep them separated by color and lay them out on newsprint on a table in my basement. I let them dry for about 2 weeks and then pull off all the leaves and excess soil, and bag them up by color in those mesh bags that tulip bulbs come in, and let them dry another week or two. Then, I put them in cardboard boxes covered with peat moss and they "go to bed" for the winter. I replant them in the spring in the last week in May. I add a few new bulbs every year but with all the old ones I have amassed several hundred bulbs in all different colors.

Your flowers are beautiful, I love caldiums. I don't know why I don't grow them...maybe next year. They are an annual, correct?

@Mom2Dogs In warmer areas, zones 9-11, they would be a perennial -- they would die back but come up again. In colder areas (I am in zone 7), they would be considered an annual unless one takes up the bulbs for the winter and replants in late spring. See my post #7 above on how I process my bulbs for the winter.

@KatieB The caladiums do really well in the shade. I have a lot of shade in my gardens so I like having them bring some color to the garden. There are some varieties, however, which will tolerate some sun. I buy my bulbs from Classic Caladiums and they indicate which ones are shade-only and which are partial sun.

This spring I looked for Caladiums at the nursery I frequent...they did not have any. Later this season I saw them at Lowes! I plan on planting them next year. Yours are beautiful.

@BklynKinsey I will check out that site for caladiums. I have sun all day on front and back of my townhome so I don't know how well they would do. Thanks for your reply and information.
