topic Can you lay St. Augustine sod right down on top of Centipede grass? in Garden

We have Centipede and the yard always looks terrible, it won't grow good no matter what we do for it, it's sparse, full of dead spots and weeds or bugs are eating the roots, who knows for sure, but St. Augustine is supposed to be a heartier, healthier type of grass, is there anything we need to do first to prep the yard?

Thanks
