No, this is a compact Tanyosho Japanese pine. I saw it on some nursery websites and just loved it. Since it's compact, it can survive in a large pot and is perfect on my deck.

Absolutely spectacular and I can appreciate how difficult it must be to haul heavy plants, pots and bags of soil up stairs and perhaps through apartments to get to their resting places. What do you do with it all in the winter?

Love the lobelia which won't grow where it's hot so I never have any. I enjoy what I see growing in baskets in the mountains.

I couldn't grow crotons even when living in a semi-tropical climate but I did see them grown as hedges in The Islands.

I was outside this PM deadheading spent peonies & roses.

The ITOH peony 'Julia Rose' looks wonderful!

My 'Bartzella' is still blooming & there are 3 buds waiting to open.

Rain is on the way for later this PM.

These are all so beautiful. I wished I had your green thumb! Although we have been having some beautiful weather, today it is rainy and gloomy. My Weigela bushes are in full bloom, however, and my day lilies have started to bloom but these beautiful flowers sure did lift my spirit to new heights today. Thanks for your post.

@Kachina624 I have the front garden, a back garden and my deck from the second floor. Yes, it's quite a job hauling to the back thru the house (we have attached houses) as well as up the stairs to the second floor deck. It's becoming harder and harder for me as I get older. I'm trying to do it as long as I am able.

Some of the plants on my deck come inside for the winter. I have two large ficus trees in large pots that are at least 25 years old. They are on dollies (as are many of the larger pots) so I can move them inside by the french doors. Last summer I had the mammy crotons in window boxes on the deck railing and they were so beautiful I thought I'd take a chance and pot them in that cobalt blue pot and bring them inside, also by the french doors. They survived beautifully and now they're back outside for the summer.

Other plants I just have to treat as annuals and just enjoy them while I have them. My lemon coral sedum survived our snowy winter (didn't survive the previous year) along with the tall foxgloves (biennials). I am in zone 7.

I also love lobelia, especially the dark blue variety. Sometimes they just don't survive very long. This basket is the best one I've ever had. I have it, as well as the Santa Cruz begonias, under some shade cloth on my deck.

Ahhh Brooklyn ! Your post brought back memories of visiting my best friend who lived at Bay Ridge when I was growing up. I love Brooklyn!!!!!

My 'Bowl of Beauty' languished for many years, not really putting out a lot of blooms.

I had to dig up & pot up the 8 peonies I had next to our driveway when an attached garage was built in that area. That fall, I transplanted 2 divisions of each peony into the area next to a new brick pavers walkway.

This is year 2 after the transplant & 'Bowl of Beauty' as well as the remaining 7 were covered with buds this year. This is the best year yet for those peonies. I guess they got just enough full sun & cold weather to set buds!

I guess the division & transplant helped!

Beautiful! You've done a terrific job - everythings fits in so well. I love the lobelia. I had one in a very large pot a few years ago and the hummingbirds loved it!
