Seems like I just saw a thread on this subject but can't find it. It's one of the exotics that Roberta's sells. I bought one last fall from Zulily. I put it in front of my patio slider. There's a dog door nearby and has soon as cold air from the drafty door hit the plant, the leaves shriveled and died. I figured the plant was dead and didn't water it at all all winter. I looked at it yesterday and noticed new leaves coming in along the main stem. If this thing flourishes, it will truly be a miracle.

Since it's a succulent it retains water like a Cactus.

It needs to be moist spring/summer & not as much water in the fall. It's dormant in the winter.

It likes the heat but not the hot afternoon sun on it.

I bought one two years ago as well. It gets alot of leaves which fall off in the winter so hoping for some blooms thisn summer. Since I live in Idaho and it gets pretty cold in the winter I bring it in and place it in a bedroom away from the heater vent but where it gets plenty of sunlight. I water it about every six weeks in the winter. As soon as it starts getting fairly warm I move it outside in a protected area and not in the hot direct sun. It did well last summer and grew well, but no blooms. I'm hoping this summer we'll finally get some flowers, keeping my fingers crossed.

When flowering plants don't bloom, it's often because they dont get enough sunlight. Something I read said they need full sun; showed them growing in desert-like conditions.

My desert rose didn't bloom for the first 2 yrs. but this year it is covered in white blooms and beautiful. I have 5 and it is the only one blooming now. They all have kept their leaves thru the winter and I only gave them an ounce of water twice thru the winter.
