Wire fairies

My friend and I decided to try wire fairies. Below is my first attempt. Definitely a learning curve. I wanted to get this done before I started my quilt. I will think about this some more. I might like to try a larger one for the garden.

What do you think? LM

@Lilysmom. Wow, that's a lot of work and I bet it's hard on a manicure. I've never seen wire fairies before. If you do a bigger one, how do you bend the wire? After you master fairies, you can turn your attention to wire wrapping gemstones to make jewelry. There are some excellent books available. You may have a whole new career as I'd say your first attempt iscexcellent.

It is really cute and looks like you did a really nice job on it. A lot of hard work twisting all that wire but very interesting and good results.

Having a fairy in the garden is a lovely thing, especially one you've crafted yourself. Nice job, @Lilysmom

I'm not that willing to work that hard, so I bought some copper fairies some years back. I have three. Here is one of them.

All I did was shop. You and your friend deserve kudos for your work!

p.s. I'd keep the fairies small. It's fun to have them kind of catch your eye rather than be too bold in size. But totally up to you, of course.

@Kachina624, I have never had a manicure in my life so no worries there lol. I am sure they would faint at the sight of my hands.

The wire can be hard on the hands. I would work on it leave it, and return so it wasn’t too bad. This is the reason I am so far behind on piecing my quilt though. I don’t want to start one project before I finish another.

You can shape the wire with pliers. I may try a larger one but I think the learning suffers with lack of practice.

I have seen some of the wrapped jewellery but I think I will leave that for more experienced wire workers.

This was fun. It’s nice to try something different. LM

I need to be careful about size. You are right about that. You need a lot of space to showcase a larger fairy. I have an idea that is rolling around in my head. We will see how that develops over the next several months. LM

It's very different and it came out great @Lilysmom. I really like it. I had a picture of 3 little garden fairies on my wall for years until I dropped it. Oops lol.

Your wire fairies look great but my hand would ache from all the wire cutting if I did that.

@JustJazzmom, not much cutting but a lot of weaving. I did it in batches. If you went at it hard, I am sure your hands would get sore. I stopped before that happened. It was fun. LM
