I had just one sun patient in a big 24" pot out in full sun all day long. We had a hot spell of close to 100 a few days in a row, but mostly lower 90's most days. That plant did better than the ones I had in shade or part shade. The only thing is, I have too much "filler" in the pot instead of all dirt and the plant dried out and wilt a couple times a day and I would have to run out and water it again. It would perk right up. This year, I will put all dirt in the pot so the water will hold the whole day. No fault of the plant. Just a note about Cottage farms and Robert's policies. I ordered the giant Hibiscus from Cottge farms and 2 survived and one did not. They are sending me a new one this year as it was too late to replace. I also have had Roberta's replace plants for me when I would get a sickly one that did not make it. I have been very happy with their guarantees. I live in a smaller community that does not carry the unusal plants you can get from these two companies. We can only get the usual run of the mill plants. I am glued to the tv today. No snow in our forcast but was 7 degrees this morning. So fun to see all the color and items today.

Today's spring show line up has me in trouble already. I promised myself not to go overboard this year with plants, etc. But, I could not resist the sun patients again. Last year they put on a such a show of color. The ones in the sun actually did the best. And they were out in the hot, hot sun all day long. The ones in the shade were not very full. They like the sun. Also could not resist getting the cute pawprint clogs. Hope they feel good, as they will be worn all day long on the days I work out in the yard. I really wanted the angel windchimes, but I have got to pace myself. I wish Carolyn could do the whole day.

What are you getting you could not resist?

I love todays Spring Day, I sure do need it!! Can't wait for Spring and todays show brings brightness into this cold winter. I love sun patients and buy tons of them, but purchase from a local nursery when they are available. Will have the TV on all day today!

I like to "steal" ideas from these shows and then get the plants from our local, huge, nursery. I may cave on some of these yard ornaments, though.

Nomar, you mentioned the Sun Patiens doing well in hot weather, do you think they can make it for 4 months of over 100 degrees? I live in an area of the country where it can get to 110 for 2 months of the year, and over 100 for at least 2 more months. Just wondering if I have any choices for things to plant, other than cactus! Thanks!

I am considering the paw print shoes too but don't know if they run small or not. They are not clogs but shoes, I don't know if that makes a difference to you.

I also like the 2 set glass ball solar lights they showed early this morning. I have the bigger ones that change colors and after 4 years they still work. I have so much yard art but I love to look at the lights at night.

I got the TSV, and changed channels. After a bad experience with Cottage Farms several years ago I swore to never buy again. BUT you can't go wrong with daylilies unless they arrive moldy. I don't have any that re bloom or have large flowers so I am going to give them a try. The deer & elk haven't eaten any & I have in 6 six years.

Begonias are good, try Mimulus or Torenia (giving the actual botanical Latin names) and look under images. There are going to be some winter lectures here where I am discussing this problem (again) as there is still no solution yet to (1) remove this problem, or (2) find a disease resistant impatiens.

I promised myself that I would not buy any garden products from the two suppliers on QVC. Yes, they did replace some items and then the replacements did exactly what the originals did. E.g., rebloom ???? Never. Really tall calla lilies? Dwarf, yes. Tall, no. Variety of colors? No way. I'll just read my book or do paperwork when those shows are on.

I had ordered the sun patients a couple years ago, and planted them in metal wash tubs, and they were absolutely beautiful! They had mainly easterly sun, except one, which had some of the southerly sun, and it would dry out, but after watering it would bounce back beautifully again...absolutely worth the money! Loved them

Suzie look for my other post about Sunpatients. I am in Sarasota, Florida and ordered two sets last year from QVC. Planted them in the front of the house in full, hot sun. We don't have a sprinkler (might order one), never fertilized. Those Sunpatients are still blooming. They are huge like shrubs. They are beautiful.

I ordered the Hybiscus last year also, but they got eaten to the ground by some sort of beetle (I won't use sprays). Lost all of them. I lost most of what I planted last year except the Impatients. Nothing bothered them. They would wilt a bit during the day but popped back in the evening. I didn't water! They are still going strong a year later.

I just ordered another 2 sets.
