So was there a consensus on Dyson blow dryers?

I know there was a discussion about this device some months ago when the Q first offered it, but I don't remember if there was a consensus opinion. I'm rather disappointed that the TSV price is not lower, the Q just added a couple of bottles of goop I won't use and a travel bag, woo hoo, but if the dryer really works *that* much better, maybe it's worth it? I have an expensive brand I bought at Ulta a couple of years ago, but I've dropped it more times than I can count, and sooner or later I know it's gonna die. Is the Dyson significantly lighter, for those of you who have it? Thanks for weighing in, fellow WENers!

I have had mine for about 4 months and love it. It definitly dries my hair faster and is quieter then my last dryers. I think it was worth the money

Luckily I have short curly hair which I always let air dry. I wonder where the product is made???? It doesn't seem to say under product details???? I would hope it's made in the USA for the price but I tend to doubt it. Very expensive, I think if I bought a hair dryer I would not spend the same amount as I would on a vacumn (and not necessarily a Dyson) I have a made in the USA Oreck!

I can't speak to the quality of the Dyson blow dryer because it's just not in my budget. For that price, someone will need to come with it to blow dry my hair for me. haha!

If it also worked as a vacuum that would be really cool

I've considered drying it, but I also usually air dry (despite having a ridiculous number of Wen brushes that I keep intending on using).

On a side note, I can't figure out which gallon to buy!!!!

I tried it back in November and returned in January. I have fine, shoulder length hair. It didn't dry my hair any faster than my T3. I returned it because it really dried out my hair--it looked very damaged. As I said in my review for this product, maybe it works best for thicker hair.

Thanks for the feedback. I have very fine hair, but a LOT of it. It takes my hair forever to dry, and I would love something to speed up the process, but I'm not really a believer that the Dyson would make enough difference to justify the price tag.

I love mine and have zero regrets on purchasing it six months ago. I wouldn't buy the TSV though, I'd buy the one with the leather case which is the same price. I don't need the shampoo products anyway. I use Wen.

Plus it's literally impossible for my hair to get sucked into the motor, unlike every single other dryer ever made.

Thanks for your experiences, everyone. From reading reviews, it sounds like the Dyson is not a good choice for my fine hair, it seems that the negative reviews are predominantly by those who have fine hair, they seem to report that the Dyson dries it out and leaves it damaged and brittle. Don't need that! Plus, I air dry my hair overnight the vast majority of the time, so I don't think spending $400 on a hair dryer is really worth it. While I love the idea of my fine hair not getting sucked into the back of a blow dryer, I haven't had that happen in a long time, my Portofino dryer is pretty long, front to back, so it's intake never gets near my hair when I'm using it. DH built me a stand with a clamp that holds the dryer, so I have both hands free to use my WEN brush to style my hair on those rare occasions when I use it, so overall, I think I'm okay sticking with it, and saving that $400 to spend on other things.

I think a lot of people that complain about it drying out hair are probably not using a heat protectant and also are using too high of heat and too high air flow.

I have never used mine above the second setting and even thats not very often and for a very short time. 99% of the time I use the heat off completely and the air speed on low. I've used it nearly every time I cleanse my hair for the last six months since I bought it and I have zero damage. Prior to buying the Dyson, I probably blew my hair dry an average of 3-4x a year maybe. My hair isn't fine though. I also always use a heat protectant.

I'd never pay $400 for a hair dryer. I think of that as something a salon owner would do. If you can spend the money and if you like the product, it's worth it, I guess.

It sold out in 2 colors. It's now 483 dollars on QVC A301646

I like the set I bought for 399 with hard side leather storage box better than the TSV for 83 dollars more. That one is still available at Sephora and the Dyson site.

I have thick wavy hair and the T3 I bought at TJ Maxx for $50 dries it in less than 5 minutes. My hair is just below my shoulders now. Unless this dryer comes with a personal stylist, I cannot justify the cost. Lol. I wouldn't pay more than $80 for a hair dryer.
